That's horrific. I had no idea the buffalo were in a mixed a exhibit! They used to be in a walled exhibit by themselves.
The Congo Buffalo have been in a mixed exhibit since they arrived. It's the Cape Buffalo that are kept seperate
That makes more sense then if it was a Congo buffalo.
Typically the news article shows a picture of the wrong species; in this case a Cape buffalo.

Photo wrongly shows a Cape buffalo, text does say a Congo buffalo. Unfortunate incident, particularly after the Hunting Dog breakout earlier in the year.
Can anyone confirm how many IR are at the park?

@bintarong I'm really looking forward to West Midlands Safari Park expanding their African Elephant enclosure, and bringing in additional Elephants to join Five and Latebe! I am also interested to know how this project is progressing but unfortunately I don't know. The only thing that I do know is that West Midlands Safari Park hope that the Elephants will reside in the refurbished enclosure with the additional Elephants by the end of next year,2021.

Has anyone been to see Inesh the Indian Rhino calf yet as he is now outside from the photos on Facebook Page ?
I saw him on Saturday - out and about in the first enclosure next to the house and looking healthy.
Obviously there’s been a lot of talk about the new elephant enclosure on here but I have a question linking with it. What are the plans for the old Elephant Valley exhibit once the elephants move out?
Unknown so far. Its a difficult area due to the decline in height and the steam train noise
I visited last Friday and it really is a disappointing place. The safari is let down by pot-holed roads and the opportunity to feed deer, antelope and camels in so many places it took nearly 3 hours to drive around. They can’t really change the place now but perhaps they should only allow feeding in the left lane allowing people to get passed in the right lane?
The Tigers look dejected and were pacing although the Lions were active. Didn’t see anything in the Elephant enclosure although the new area seems to be coming along.
being a Longleat regular, they have got it spot on by only allowing the Deer to be fed in one enclosure that you have the option to bypass.
the actual zoo isn’t much better with only penguins, hippos (although they were surprisingly active), lemur and ostrich in outdoor enclosures. I can’t imagine I will rush back and it makes me realise how fortunate I am to live so close to Bristol Zoo, Wild Place, NAZF and Longleat.

Ah Yes I saw that but what does Knowsley want Grevy's Zebras for ?
Their Plains zebra’s have departed over the last few years, I know 3 went to Marwell, so I’m guessing it is a strategic move to add Grevy’s to the offering. Always found it strange that Knowsley wouldn’t want Zebra as they are one of the most distinctive and recognisable “Safari” animals.
