Plans for the future is in fact bringing more new African Elephants to build up a herd so that they can offically breed and that'll be really good indeed. What does the future hold for the other animals aswell bintarong ?
Do you mind Ekozu? He moved to Hodenhagen Safari in July 2020.Any info would be welcome - what happend with Bwindi`s calf Embu, born in August 2016??
I know this is a stretch but until the early 2010s I remember they used to hold Llama and (Hybrid?) Dromedary Camels to name a couple. In recent years, WMSP has lost several ungulate species (Addax, Gembsbok, Cape Buffalo & Nilgai to name a few), what are the particular reasons for these? The Addax seems a particularly strange departure, as a Critically Endangered species.
I'm sure it's all part of the park's overall 'masterplan' and there will be things coming in future to replace them! However, it's odd that a safari park, which is essentially an ungulate nerd's (like myself) heaven, would choose to depart with so many in such a short period
Visited yesterday for the first time since the new work on houses and lodges started.
- Saw the Hippos being active for the first time instead of just resting
- Only one waterbuck spotted
- Two male philippine spotted deer were free roaming in the 2nd asian reserve (with the banteng) while the females were still in their paddock in the 1st reserve
- most of the lodges were occupied towards the end of the day
- close viewing of giraffes from the new trail (though it is quite a long walk)
- saw the sea lion show for the first time
- very few penguins visible in their exhibit
- saw a grevy's zebra isolated in an enclosure between the new giraffe house/trail and the safari academy
Two waterbuck at present

I would say also them and Knowlsley getting out of Cape Buffalo is a bit... disappointing
