Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden What's Gnu At The Cincinnati Zoo? - 2013

Thanks for posting UCBearcat.

I have a couple of things to comment about Africa though. I'm surprised that they are getting two more giraffes since it only can only hold 5. But I suppose Lulu could be transferred some time after November. I say this because I have a feeling the zoo will be breeding more giraffes in the future.

I saw the cheetah exhibit and it looks like it won't be as big as 50 ft. But I measured it and it will most likely be 100ft. by 50ft. The lion exhibit will be about 90ft. by 70ft.

Since summer of last year the zoo has had unannounced zoo babies: Two little penguins, cave whip spiders, African helmeted turtles, and Pallas's cats!

After reading a post made from another member, Harapan will return back home in the fall.

Here's the current Zoo Babies list. Apparently somehow no okapi was born and Padmae the aardvark probably gave birth already.

Klyde the black rhinoceros is currently being crate trained as he is schedule to be transferred to the Sedgewick County Zoo for breeding.

I found two giraffes with the same name online: CeCe from the Binder Park Zoo, and Jambo (female by the way) from Phoenix. But they are both reticulated giraffes.

doubt the zoo would mix their pure Masai Giraffes with hybrid Reticulated, especially if the male will continue to stay on exhibit with them. If the male goes off-exhibit when they come and it's just all the females together then I can understand it from a companion viewpoint.

I'm shocked Andalas is not on that bracket.
I suppose the zoo is expecting some Eurasian Eagle-Owl chicks soon.

@Moebelle, is it possible the zoo is just still holding out on the Okapi birth?

Yeah same, they even considered Ganesh to be.on it.

How do you know that they are expecting owl chicks?

I doubt they are keeping a baby in there without its mother. I say.this because I saw both Kuvua and Kiloro outside. Plus it's Zoo Babies season and I know for a fact that the zoo would have announced it by now-dead or alive.

Ganesh? I know about the owl chicks because when they were talking about the Eurasian Eagle-Owl in the bracket video they said that she's now sitting on a clutch of eggs and is a mom herself now. Listen carefully.

Well wasn't the female confirmed to be pregnant? I can't see any way the calf couldn't have been born if they'd announce it dead or alive. Is it possible she's still pregnant?

Ganesh is the only elephant to be born at the zoo.

I acutually didn't watch the video because I have classes.

Her pregnancy was announced in August 2011 and should've given birth in November of 2012.

Are the parents of Ganesh still at the zoo? And where's Ganesh now?

Maybe the mother rejected the calf and they're holding off on releasing it until it's older?

Ganesh's parents were Jati and Sabu and they are at the zoo. He was sent to the Columbus zoo in early 2000's and died of a virus in 2006.
