Young babies aren't reared in the main exhibit, they would be offshow or in a nursery area. So the number of animals using the main exhibit isn't relevant to what young ones are taken from other zoos for rearing..

Gladys was raised in the zoo's main exhibit by humans...

As Moebelle said, Gladys was largely reared on-exhibit. But when I said space should be an issue, I was referring to the off-show space as well.

I'm coming home tomorrow ad of course I need to go to the zoo to update my species list, map, and more importantly see if the hoofstock are out. Based off of what I was shown on Facebook, they are.

There is a series of four photos on the zoo's Flickr group page showing two impala and one Thomson's gazelle, which corresponds with what I was last told, that we had one of one species, two of another, and we were still waiting on the kudu altogether.

Is anyone aware of the Zoo's plan with their white lions and grevy's zebra? I know the new africa exhibit is home to a new potential breeding pair of lions already and I'm not too familiar with the hoof stock inventory for the plains exhibit but does anyone know if the zebras will be moved here? As for the lions the exhibit doesn't seem large enough to serve as a rotational flex yard for 2 prides of lions but the white lion exhibit is pretty old. I'm guessing they will phase out that exhibit once it's empty?

I believe the Lions will just stay in their current enclosure until they die off and the zebras will remain in Rhino Reserve. And as for the enclosure, it seems fine to me. In fact, I like it better than the new Lion enclosure, though it needs a different species. I'd like to see either the black bears or Andean Bears in there once the Lions go.

And Sunshine, Prosperity, and Future only have a few years left. However, Gracious, one of the offspring, will be around longer, not by much, but longer.
 
Of course the one day I have time to go it starts to rain, it gets cold, and the savanna species list reverted back to the way it was when I left.
 
Updates and surprisingly there isn't much.
1. The two pottos in Jungle Trails are temporarily off exhibit (they are separated in two exhibits), so... possibly for mating?
2. Speaking of which I saw the two Aye-Ayes mate.
3. Ali the Aardvark that was in the Children's Zoo is off exhibit
4. The Parrot Snake in the Reptile House is off exhibit
5. The saltwater tank in Manatee Springs was completely emptied out.
6. The Bird-eater and Lubber Grasshoppers have been replaced by Giant Cave Cockroaches and Grey Grasshoppers.
7. There are finally signs in the Butterfly Aviary in Wings of the World
 
I finally saw the Impala and gazelle and have pictures *finally), and even though it's only three added animals it dramatically improves the quality of the exhibit. I also saw Brahma for the first time and he is without a doubt the most impressive animal I've ever laid eyes on.

I'd love to see hyenas in there.
