Where do the Deer & Antelope Play?: A Look at America's Ungulate Populations

I don't think so. From another ZooChat thread, I found out that the last hartebeest died at Lion Country Safari in FL earlier this year (however, there might be some in the private sector...) and there are no more topi either, with the last zoo that had one was San Antonio (around 2010 or so...).
I didn't think there were any left the USA. I wonder if Europe has them.

The species, or the individual animal?
It isn't really a species if it is hybridized, but the group of animals in the wild that are Jackson's hartebeests are really hybrids between Lelwel hartebeests and Coke's hartebeests, two subspecies. Some authors, who are in the vast minority, disagree with this.

For Van Beal. This website lists lists the following:ungulates from the Americas:
Baird's, Brazilian and mountain tapirs
Pronghorn
Wapiti, white-tailed and mule deer, Chilean and southern pudu, Mexican red and Central American brockets, American moose, caribou
Musk ox, Rocky Mountain goat, bighorn, Dall's sheep, American bison
Chacoan and collared peccaries
Guanaco, llama, vicuna, alpaca

I would have thought there may be a few more species of South American deer, as well as some collections holding white-lipped peccaries

There's not enough space in US zoos to maintain three peccary populations, hence no white-lipped peccaries. I'm not sure what the history of them in US Zoos is, but it's difficult enough for two peccary populations to be maintained (even collareds are being phased out of the AZA). As for South American Deer, the Chronic Wasting Disease restrictions that are causing a lot of problems for AZA Cervid populations have been discussed multiple times on this site (and even in this thread). This has made maintaining any deer populations extremely difficult, regardless of continent of origin. It doesn't surprise me there's not much in terms of South American Deer also because most zoos with South American sections focus primarily on Rainforests- oftentimes having the section mostly (or entirely) indoors- leaving little room for larger mammals, much of which is taken up by jaguars, andean bears, maned wolves, and tapirs.

I didn't realize collard peccaries were being phased out. It makes sense seeing as how they are quite secure in the wild.

That I didn't know! That place rarely posts photos, or has visitors post photos, so verifying anything there has been nearly impossible. Between that and the rarity of the species in the US, I was doubtful of it.

yeah there was also a post from late July that showed a male, though I am not sure if he is still around.

Any chance you could update the list with scientific names? Even for the subspecies?? And idk how easy it'd be but if you could include a pic too that'd be cool!

As someone who was just informed about the creation of the list Tinopup made, the pictures of each animal in each facility would be a pain in the ass to do and would probably fill up 100+ zoochat pages.

I'm not meaning one from each facility, just a pic of each species/subspecies.
