i have heard rumours that whipsnade is going to get a new sealion female from longleat at some point
A rockhopper penguin is being hand raised at the moment, the 10 week old chick is being raised in the bird garden.
BBC News - Rockhopper on show for first time at Bedfordshire zoo
Hello! I was up at Whipsnade on Tuesday and have a few observations.
•Wild whipsnade-both wolverine were really active climbing trees, although no sign of the lynx. The wild boar are all getting really big so the paddock looks a little worse for wear!
• Sea lions were all really active ( they have a female called kyra who joined the zoo from longleat, alongside dominic, salt, Lara and bayley)
• they have another Asian rhino calf, a girl born to beluki last week
• spotted the red panda cub enjoying some bamboo ( no indication of whether it is a boy or girl)
• they have a new common hippo male who arrived from Dublin zoo about a week ago
• still only the two female giraffes and no one around to ask about a male either
Think that was all the major things, but will add more if I think of anything I've missed!

Great news the second rhino calf is here!

Didn't see any building work anywhere and no the new male hippo wasn't on show and the only info I got was that he came from Dublin.
Some of the offspring of ‘Henry’ and ‘Belinda’ Whipsnade’s very long-lived and prolific hippos went to Dublin Zoo. I wonder of the new male is a descendant of the old Whipsnade line?
