What about the Indian Crested Porcupine or the African Brush-tailed Porcupine?Yes.But will they be exhibited at WOD redux?
I would hope they would get pangolins - which are being bred at Brookfield ( Chicago). What about the Indian Crested Porcupine or the African Brush-tailed Porcupine?
Coendu?

Once again, this is not a fantasy thread, it is a news and discussion/speculation thread.I would hope they would get pangolins - which are being bred at Brookfield ( Chicago).
What is the fantasy about acquiring pangolins from another AZA institution that already houses them? As San DiegoOnce again, this is not a fantasy thread, it is a news and discussion/speculation thread.

I hope so too, and I also hope for platypus like the San Diego Zoo Safari Park.I would hope they would get pangolins - which are being bred at Brookfield ( Chicago).
Why not ?I hope so too, and I also hope for platypus like the San Diego Zoo Safari Park.
I have never ever seen a real platypus before. Why not ?
The Bronx Zoo was also the first one to exhibit the platypus in North America - albeit in the 1940s and 1950s
But why not try and recapture the glories of their past?
Although that MIGHT be a fantasy
To make things happen you need money and the force of will and to be , ever, optimistic

Maybe the’ll have binturongs, civets, genets, bat-eared foxes, or other nocturnal species.Yeah that's a bit over the fantasy line - platypus are very expensive to feed and I doubt Bronx has interest in putting that big a financial drain in hand. Would fit the theme, but probably cost more to upkeep than everything currently known to be included.
Been fortunate to see them at Taronga,Sydney and Healseville near Melbourne and lucky enough to see Numbats at Perth.I have never ever seen a real platypus before.
No doubt. But pangolins can be a fitYeah that's a bit over the fantasy line - platypus are very expensive to feed and I doubt Bronx has interest in putting that big a financial drain in hand. Would fit the theme, but probably cost more to upkeep than everything currently known to be included.
Honestly, if they do have Porcupines, wouldn't it make the most sense for the American one in the Children's Zoo to move? What about the Indian Crested Porcupine or the African Brush-tailed Porcupine?
North American Porcupines probably would require a larger space, and both Indian crested and brush tails could be mixed with other animals too. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a mixed species exhibit of sloths, Brazilian porcupines, night monkeys and bats.Honestly, if they do have Porcupines, wouldn't it make the most sense for the American one in the Children's Zoo to move?
Unlikely , but any - particularly Binturongs - could transition into the former leopard habitat at Jungle WorldMaybe the’ll have binturongs, civets, genets, bat-eared foxes, or other nocturnal species.

I would assume that, climatically, that North American porcupines could be exhibited outdoors( Which is always preferable ) year round they would be preferential in their current habitat at the Children’s zoo while the likes of Coendu and Ethiopian realm porcupines are more suitable to climatically controlled indoor enclosures- which WOD will beHonestly, if they do have Porcupines, wouldn't it make the most sense for the American one in the Children's Zoo to move?
Wait a second! Numbats are not nocturnal!Been fortunate to see them at Taronga,Sydney and Healseville near Melbourne and lucky enough to see Numbats at Perth.
I was only remarking that in addition to having observed platypus at Australian zoos I had also had the rare opportunity to have seen numbats as well - equally unique to North American collections - but NOT advocating their inclusion in nocturnal exhibits - WOD, in particular- as they are, as you stated , diurnal.Wait a second! Numbats are not nocturnal!
