Bronx Zoo World of Darkness reopening

Once again, this is not a fantasy thread, it is a news and discussion/speculation thread.
What is the fantasy about acquiring pangolins from another AZA institution that already houses them? As San Diego
and - incongruously -Turtle Back Zoo - in New Jersey (!)
Bronx Zoo has exhibited a number of pangolins in the past ( See Crandal’s’
“Mammals in Captivity”
A “fantasy” would be commenting on audio- animatronic dinosaur recreations

Once again, this is not a fantasy thread, it is a news and discussion/speculation thread.

Given that all four species mentioned are present in the AZA, I'd hardly call that fantasy, even if three of them are probably unlikely here. One of the species you're lumping in fantasy is very common in the AZA and may well stand a high chance of being included given Bronx already has multiple last I was aware... ;)

I hope so too, and I also hope for platypus like the San Diego Zoo Safari Park.
Why not ?
The Bronx Zoo was also the first one to exhibit the platypus in North America - albeit in the 1940s and 1950s
But why not try and recapture the glories of their past?
Although that MIGHT be a fantasy
To make things happen you need money and the force of will and to be , ever, optimistic

I have never ever seen a real platypus before.

Yeah that's a bit over the fantasy line - platypus are very expensive to feed and I doubt Bronx has interest in putting that big a financial drain in hand. Would fit the theme, but probably cost more to upkeep than everything currently known to be included.
Maybe the’ll have binturongs, civets, genets, bat-eared foxes, or other nocturnal species.

No doubt. But pangolins can be a fit
If Turtle Back zoo can offer, “Breakfast with the Pangolin” the Bronx could afford them a their, “Nocturnal Buffet” that is World of Darkness.

Honestly, if they do have Porcupines, wouldn't it make the most sense for the American one in the Children's Zoo to move?
North American Porcupines probably would require a larger space, and both Indian crested and brush tails could be mixed with other animals too. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a mixed species exhibit of sloths, Brazilian porcupines, night monkeys and bats.

I would assume that, climatically, that North American porcupines could be exhibited outdoors( Which is always preferable ) year round they would be preferential in their current habitat at the Children’s zoo while the likes of Coendu and Ethiopian realm porcupines are more suitable to climatically controlled indoor enclosures- which WOD will be

Wait a second! Numbats are not nocturnal!
I was only remarking that in addition to having observed platypus at Australian zoos I had also had the rare opportunity to have seen numbats as well - equally unique to North American collections - but NOT advocating their inclusion in nocturnal exhibits - WOD, in particular- as they are, as you stated , diurnal.
I would advocate adding them to any zoological collection but, then, I would be accused of advocating as a proponent of a, “fantasy thread” - and we would not want that !
