Worst enclosure photo on Zoochat

Nanoboy, you should create a poll called the Yorik to see which enclosure is the worst.:D

:D There is a certain degree of finality with a poll. I'd rather keep this thread open for you folks to keep posting pics of poor enclosures. Each nominee gets a Yorik award. :D

Yorik joke will never get old! :D:D:D

I would like to first start of by saying that Denver has some very bad exhibits that are still being exhibited until their time of renovation. I also want to mention again that I do not support those exhibits, just Denver zoo's decisions when they plan to change them. But I defiantly don't think that the whole of bird world deserves an award for being bad exhibit. Do you?

Also, why is the reason we are doing this? Do we honestly need to show off the bad exhibits at zoos. We all know that zoos have them and we all know that some zoos have worse than others, but how is this beneficial to any kind of chat about zoos? Unless this is what a lot of people like to do around here than I stand corrected. I'm not trying to spur any controversy just wondering why there is even a thread for this, and why someone is know going to award exhibits with a "yorik award?"

Please don't become the next yorik.

so we should only talk about how wonderful zoos are and how specific exhibits are great, while conveniently overlooking how many bad exhibits there are? Talking about bad exhibits is incredibly beneficial to any kind of chat about zoos. Nobody wants animals to be kept badly in zoos but just blindly pretending it's not happening is plain stupid.

Another point, these photo's are already on here and have already been discussed previously. This thread, by and large, is just bringing some of the worst to the attention of those who may have missed them. Nothing anti-zoo about it, it's just "zoo chat". ;)

Exactly, I tried the same idea on a different thread and everyone ripped on me for doing it, and it got deleted.

Thank you Brum and Childonias. I was just wondering as I'm quite new to the forum and am somewhat unfamiliar with it all.

I do understand why this is happening, I guess I just don't have to agree with it. Of coarse it needs to be discussed as we are on a site called "zoo chat", but a post like this is just "beating a dead horse" if its already been discussed. Why must we bring it to attention for the people that missed it? If they missed it than they missed it! Its not like missing a picture of a bad exhibit will hinder them as they are "chatting" about zoos.

Just my two cents,
Pacarana

P.S.

I'm not intentionally trying to cause problems here. It's my pure interest and also another opinion.

And many members said we should always think positive about zoos. I was just curious to see where bad exhibits were. AnaheimZoo, thanks for your words of defense.

with regards to your deleted post above Moebelle, what is the "worst exhibit forum" you refer to and can you provide a link to what I am supposed to have said there because I'd be interested in knowing (because it didn't sound like something I would have said)? Thanks.

I look away for a few days, and I miss the most action that we have had in weeks. :D
Dammit!

I actually thought it was more of Ituri than you, but I might just not remember correctly... Ituri (if that was, indeed, who it was) said something along the lines of "let's not give the critics anything more to rant about"... Forgive me, I don't totally recall.

if it was the thread Moebelle started, then I never posted in that which is why I am confused

He/she asked "which zoo has the worst exhibit for these species", listed the species, there were a few answers and then the complaints came. I'm not sure if you did post on the thread; you and Moebelle are always having issues.
