A bit more information on the new Amazonas area (refurbed South America Viva walkthrough):

Between the web page and the Facebook video it seems to confirm at least Capybara, mara, agouti and titi for the new setup.

Went i visited there was three banners with
Golden lion tamarins
Silvery ear marmoset
Red Titi monkeys
It also seemed there was a small enclosure on the right side of the enclosure which I presume could be for the agoutis ???
Is this the start of highly themed areas at the park?

It seems 3 giant otter pups have been born bringing the group up to 9 making it the most of any wildlife park globally

Was up at YWP today as I continue my how many zoos can I fit in on a week off quest. Cold and rainy though the sun did come out later in the day. Had gloves on all day - felt sorry for the people who braved only being in a hoody! I have to put a tick in for the EV chargers - recent EV user here and being able to dump the thing on a cable all day at the zoo and come back to an easy way to take the long journey home is great. Wish more zoos had it.
Weather made it really quiet compared to my previous visits which was nice! I was prepared for crowds as it’s the school holidays so was pleasantly surprised.
Had some excellent views of the polar bears in all the enclosures in area one and two - there was a scheduled feed time posted for area one which made for some good views and then a couple of the bears played in the water in the rain. Such amazing animals. Was amused to see they’ve been given some kayaks to play with.
Didn’t see the baby giant otters but got great views of the rest of the family including last years youngsters enjoying fish in the pond. I’d really wanted to see them as they were not out the last few times I’ve been so that made the day.
Enjoyed the red howler monkeys and both baboon types as well as the smooth coated otters. The hyenas were running about which was great. The lions were asleep (who can blame them) and no sign of the rhinos again but I’ve never seen them out there so wasn’t expecting to.
Was good to see the ex Whipsnade seals again, one of the best parts of a trip to YWP for me.
The new Amazona walkthrough is really big and if it has the free roaming small primates on the signs then that should be a real treat. I suppose they may be in enclosures but couldn’t see any wire so will be interesting to see. It looks well on the way to being completed with all the fencing in and lots of building activity. There were a load of Mara behind the maned wolves so am guessing they moved while the building work is going on.

No the sea lions left London in the late 90’s iirc and this group who are now at YWP were born after that as it’s the two parents born 2006/7 and the youngsters.
They did go to London on holiday in the mid 2000s I think (someone can correct me!) when work on the pool at Whipsnade was being done and so some of them (Dom and Bailey the older ones) will have visited.
It’s a much nicer enclosure for them now at YWP but still miss the sea lions at Whipsnade!

London Zoo stopped keeping California sea lions in 1992. However, twenty years later, in 2012, the species returned to Regent's Park, for a short time, as the Whipsnade sea lions were temporarily housed there whilst their accommodation at Whipsnade was renovated.
Whereabouts were the Whipsnade sea lions held while they were at London?
In the old sea lion pond (built 1905) roughly where the tiger exhibit is now.

Thanks Tim! I remembered them going off for a while good to know the actual year.
Sorry for asking what may seem like a daft question, but I wasn't sure where else to ask... if you pre-book a ticket to visit the park, how do you prove that you've pre-booked when you arrive? I don't have access to a working printer so wouldn't be able to print an email receipt. To be honest I've never actually booked in advance for a zoo visit before but YWP seem to charge quite a bit more if you pay on the day so I'd rather save myself some pennies!
If you have a smart phone just show the email, it'll probably have a barcode or qr code and they'll scan that. Otherwise you could print the email at your local library or at work or any print shop.

As Ned said they were scanning the bar code on peoples phones when I was there.
Most people didn’t appear to have paper tickets. They also say don’t bother to print on the email confirmation;
“Thank you for your purchase!
We can’t wait to welcome you for your WILDday out to Yorkshire Wildlife Park!
All your booking and ticket details can be found below.
On arrival at The Yorkshire Hive, simply head through to the Wildlife Park entrance and show us the booking confirmation. Go paperless; no need to print, it's convenient and better for the environment too!”

Not sure if it's changed, but last year you had to go to the ticket booths even if you had pre-booked to get a barcode to enter the park, rather than just the actual entrance. Hopefully that has changed, but it made for needless queueing last year.
