This year 2 Western common chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes verus) were born!
On the 26th of June 28-year old female Fifi gave birth to a female, however after 2 weeks she became paralyzed in her hind legs. No cause has been found yet and her hind leggs are still paralyzed. Luckly her sister Kitoko took care of Fifi's offspring and also started nursing it. In July Kitoko gave birth to a male, since then she has been taking care of both young!
