The species on your photo is Melanophryniscus stelzneri (sensu lato). It has been on display in Berlin for a few years; usually in the section that also has the poison dart frogs. An interesting species that is superficially similar to Atelopus, but not quite the same.

Edit: Perhaps I should mention that most "M. stelzneri" in captivity actually are M. klappenbachi. The latter was included in the former until fairly recently. Hence "sensu lato".

The summary of events in the animal collection for December 2013 has been released judging by a photo of a notice posted on the Zoofreunde forums; though my ability to read German is a bit shaky I have tried to translate as best I can whilst leaving the original German for anything I am uncertain of the translation for:

Ok, so births make sense, as do gifts. Are enlistments animals that have been bought, and sales/exchanges animals that have left the collection? What is shelters (animals from animal shelters???)?

Not a clue, hence why I retained the original words I had translated for those categories - the hope one of the German zoochatters might be able to correct my translation or offer an explanation of what is meant!
 
my interpretation would be (in order of TLD's list): births; left the collection (sales/exchanges); additions from private persons (shelters); additions from other zoos (enlistments); and, er, also additions from other zoos (gifts). I guess the last two would be paid and non-paid.

EDIT: nope, got it, schlupfen = to hatch out. So those are "births" too, but of the egg hatching variety!

In fact the entire list only contains arrivals, no departures. I believe this was different in the past when departures were listed as well. This may have to do with some activists that randomly caused trouble with regards to departures a bit too often. I don't have a clue if this actually is the real reason, though.

So let me sort out the list:
-Births and Hatchings should be clear now.
-Gifts/ Sales/ Exchanges only refers to arrivals as I said. In each of these cases, the animals may stem from other zoos or private people.
-Enlistments (if that is the correct translation) are animals that got transfered to the zoo, but nonetheless still belong to the owner they came from. They may be there to breed, to return as soon as the other zoo redid an enclosure, or they may be may just stay until they can be transfered somewhere else. In some cases these animals are never even displayed, in other cases they stay in the zoo for a very long time and also are put on display. In the case of the Tierpark occasionally some rather interesting animals showed up on the list causing everyone on Zoofreunde-Board to wonder whether or not they would be put on display: :D or :eek:.

On the contrary. Despite its shortcommngs, all I can say is "God Bless Google Translator!" - and that is comming from an obstinate atheist.

Although I have been known to use it in the past, of late I've been relying on the slow manual process of using two dictionaries combined with my rusty grasp of German :p considering the above list was obtained from a photograph, Google Translate would have actually been harder as I would have needed to type everything out manually!

I did use the German version of Wikipedia to translate some of the animal names, mind you :p something like Nördlicher Seebär is pretty obviously Northern Furseal, literally translating as it does to "Northern Sea-bear" but something like Brillenblattnase (Seba's Short-tailed Bat) is less obvious, as it appears to literally mean "Spectacled leaf-nose"
 
Female bonobo born last friday to OPALA (15), second adult female YALA (33) is pregnant too.
