Le Domaine des Fauves Zoo Le Domaine des Fauves

This winter, the old monkey building (near the entrance) was completely destroyed. Over the years, this place has been home to many species (chimpanzees, mandrills, mangabeys, crab-eating macaques, bear macaques, capuchins, squirrels monkeys, lemur...). For a few years, there were only 2 Capuchins.
A new entrance area will be installed there to better organize the flow of visitors (90,000 people were welcomed in 2022).

Somes news ...

- Taurus, male Spotted Hyena, died at the age of 38 this winter.
- Caracals and Fishing Cats have received new, enlarged exhibits.
- The pygmy zebu and the llama finally left the park to join an "Petting zoo". Their former enclosure is under construction to expand the space for big cats (probably lions).

The zoo reopens on February 17

Sad news about the male Spotted Hyena. The zebu/more domestic animals leaving will be a noticeable departure but am I right in thinking that is the last of the non predator species gone?

Yes ! In fact, there are only Ouessant sheep and pygmy goats left in addition to the predators.
Of the 70 species, there are currently around twenty species of felines, around twenty of owls, a few canids (wolves, bush dogs), two species of hyenas, meerkats and diurnal birds of prey.

Oh yes, I nearly forgot about the goat and sheep walkthrough! That is quite a good line up with lots of cats and owls as well as two species of hyena.

New subspecie : Amur Leopard Cat (Prionailurus bengalensis euptilurus)
0.1 from Lumigny (Parc des félins)

The zoo already has the subspecies (P. bengalensis bengalensis) for several years.

- New jaguarundi birth on August 15, it's a male.

- Arrival of 1.0 Amur Leopard Cat and 0.1 Gordon's Wildcat from Jihlava in September.
Amur leopard cat is their first pair? Gordon's wild cat female is to pair up with offspring born in August 2023 (to their original pair)?
