The Zoo Commission meeting minutes for September 17th have been posted.
Hightlights:
-Senior Animal Keeper gave an update on the Chimp troop introductions. The troop is currently made up of 17 chimps spanning 4 generations, and they are currently split up in different groups. Only 3 males have been introduced to the youngsters so far, but there is no plan to introduce the alpha male, Ripley, to them.
-As of September 17th, Rainforest of the Americas was 87% complete.
-They have spent $161.8 million of the capital project to date.
-The completion date for RotA had been moved to October 31st.
-Koala will be loaned to Lowry Park zoo for breeding.
-The zoo will be receiving Short-eared Elephant Shrews for the Desert Trail.
-Receiving Hyancinth Macaw for new Bird Show.
-Receiving male Sarus Crane for breeding.
