Zoo Reviews

Just came across this post and while I am clearly late to the party I have a suggestion for you @Zooreviewsuk ...

If you do want to reinstate some kind of scoring element to your reviews, why not canvas opinion on the different elements that are of prime importance to the different zoo-going populations and give each of them a RAG status as opposed to a number score?

As a photographer I would have a wildly different view of what constitutes a great zoo visit than your average young family. It is so subjective that I think the only way it works is to give an indication of what 'type' of visitor the zoo is going to appeal to.

Thanks Zia.

I've now been to around 25 places ranging from RSPB sanctuarys and reserves to Zoos and private collections.

As a photographer that is how my website and reviews are going to be judged. But there will be other sections too but for me Photo Opportunities are a main factor.

I was at the Highland Wildlife Park yesterday and it really impressed me, given it's the sister zoo of Edinburgh it's miles better in my opinion. I was there from gates open at 10am to 4pm gates shutting and for me I could have stayed longer despite it being freezing. It's the first park I've been to where I actually ran out of time and I made a full day of it.

For once we are in agreement on something :P

Have you been to Combe Martin and taken part in the swim with the sealion experience? Whilse the zoo is not great (although haven't been since 2015), the experience is amazing..

No, where is Combe Martin ? I have completed over 100 VIP packages now and visited over 35 collections, but there are still several I've not got around to, but that sounds great fun.

It's south west, north or Barnstaple. We did a trip in 2015, that included Dartmoor, Exmoor, Combe Martin. At £99.50 per person it's awesome. One of the best experiences we've done :)
