Most hotels have access to amazing snorkeling sights on their grounds. Even my hotel, which lay close to the city with lots of traffic in the water, had a very rich sea life. I don't have a camera to record what I see underwater, and it's of course impossible to snorkel with a book or your cellphone, so for someone who lacks an underwater camera, species id and creating a species list may be a bit hard. I luckily have a pretty photographic memory, so I could snorkel, and later while on dry land, scroll through the Inat checklist for the region and write down the species I know 100% I saw. I also used the checklist to familiarize myself with the sealife so that I could often know what I was looking at while in the water. My actual fish list is undoubtedly a bit longer, since I only write down the fish I know I saw with 100% certainty. The only species I wrote down as lifers are the more distinctive species I have no recollection of seeing during my previous visit to Egypt. This because it's hard to know what I have seen before, and the previous hotel I stayed at was located in an areas with much greater diversity. So I have likely seen most species already.
