ZooChat Challenge Global 2021

Only tamandua I've ever seen active was at Smithsonian National Zoo. Seen them sleeping at three or so other facilities.

I frequently seem the Tamandua at the Minnesota Zoo climbing around it’s exhibit at the old monorail tracks. I don’t see why them active at any other zoos, though.

You mean Minnesota's tamandua isn't on the Tropics Trail anymore? It's outdoors?

Nope. It hasn’t been in there since 2016. One way put on exhibit in the cage at the top of the old monorail station spring of last spring. The exhibit they used to be in is now temporarily home to a pair of Von Der Decken’s Hornbills.

I didn’t even know there was an exhibit up there. Is it indoors or outdoors?

Outdoors. It’s hard to see, as the ramp up to the viewing area (and the monorail station) has been closed since 2013, but it’s still viewable from a distance.

Finally making some more headway, though probably no more zoos for me for a while now, only London really now. Even so, some nice additions possible there - tamanduas and a couple of marsupial species iirc.

Just a tiny addition from yesterday:

Battersea Park Children's Zoo:

8. European hedgehog

Should be going to London a couple of times in the next week so hopefully might get a few things there.

02/10 Poznan Nowe Zoo
The Nocturnal House was closed and out of at least 6 possibilities I got 1. Not a strong percentage, indeed :)

33.Eastern grey kangaroo/
Macropus giganteus

Duisburg gives very good opportunities for this Challenge, but I missed a few. Long-nosed Potoroos didn't showed up in their newly built exhibit (together with New Zealand Shoveler, Laughing Kookaburra and Bush Thick-knee) Echidnas are almost an illusion and no Brush-tailed Bettong.

22/10 Duisburg Zoo

34.Tasmanian devil/Sarcophilus harrisii
35. Swamp wallaby/Wallabia bicolor
36. Common wombat/Vombatus ursinus hirsutus

Krefeld has one curious small cave in the Reinforest house with two species of bats. They also had the only Gambian epauletted bats in Europe, but unfortunately they died in the fire.

37. Pallas' long-tongued bat/Glossophaga soricina
38. Southern long-nosed bat/Leptonycteris curasoae

I knew this update was coming when I saw your post in the other challenge... Looks like I need to pull my finger out and get back to Hamerton!* ;)

*Spoiler alert - should have been there yesterday for the Bartlett Society AGM but had to cancel, plans are afoot to go back soon enough though! :p

Ohhh great! I hope you end up there soon! I still regret, that I missed Hamerton and Exmoor last year. Hope to make it there in 2022. Maybe for another challenge :) I'll try to give you few more reasons today :)
