ZooChat Challenge Global 2021

That's it I'm dropping out of finals and flying to Europe just to slip that tongue back in your mouth and win the challenge! :p
Knowing that you're a poor student without any time to spare and well invested into your education then I'm calling your bluff! :p:D

Got me there :p! This is true, I have zero time to spare, it feels like there's a new deadline I didn't know about every 5 seconds!

I was happy to return at one of my favorite European zoos today. Many big institutions slowed down the last two years, but not Prague. The zoo is keep changing its face almost every year and new big projects are on the way.

Prague zoo 12/12

43.Long-nosed Potoroo/Potorous tridactylus
44.Round-eared Elephant shrew/Macroscelides proboscideus
45.Yellow-spotted rock hyrax/Heterohyrax brucei
46.Lesser hedgehog tenrec/Echinops telfairi

The fact that Plzen has 4 spieces of Hyraxes(out of 5) on display, speaks for itself and it's no secret how this zoo scores with Miscellaneous mammals. Lately more and more spieces are going on-show and a pair of Marsh Mongooses and a single Brown (or White-striped) Dorcopsis were particularly exciting to see.

Plzen zoo 13/12

47.Brown dorcopsis/Dorcopsis muelleri

48.Greater hedgehog tenrec/Setifer setosus
49.Southern tree hyrax/Dendrohyrax arboreus
50.Straw-colored fruit bat/Eidolon helvum
51.West African tree hyrax/Dendrohyrax dorsalis sylvestris

I knew it was coming but it still stings! :p
Hope Jihlava isn't on your list as well... ;)

Unfortunately, it's not :p It's very high on my list, though, but I will leave it for next year :)I'm traveling to Munich tomorrow, trying to get the Apennine Chamois. If I reach the zoo, the only possible tick for this Challenge is the Agile wallaby.

Yeah, but you don't need to see the Wallaby really ( :p ) so you should spend your whole visit focusing on the Chamois instead! ;):D
You are right. I haven't been at Munich zoo since 2014, I will need a lot of time to find the Chamois, anyway

Forgot that agoutis were rodents. I like to think of them as honorary not-rodents :p

No Tenrec, the opossum died about a year ago, and I already have the kangaroo but to be fair they weren't even signed today..

I see. Thank you! If we add the American Beaver and the Pardine Genet, the place would be very interesting for the ZooChaters. It's cool, if the Red Kangaroo can be your winner, tho :)

Those beavers are the most active beavers anyone I know has ever seen. Them and the jackals are worth the admission alone :)

And if you ever do decide to visit here then drop me a Pm and we might be able to make it a meet up ;)

I would love to! I am postponing the next UK trip way too long :) Let's hope that the things will go bit better next year and I will be able to visit you.

Last entry for the year and last mammal novelty for 2021. Copenhagen was my next destination, but the zoo and the Den Blå Planet Aquarium are already closed. I didn't expect to see many rare species this year, but this interesting Challenge sparked my interest to otherwise overlooked animals. I had some sad misses, like Vampire Bats, but managed to see some really cool ones, as well. Thanks to @ZooBinh for the interesting theme and to all fellow contenders for the great game!

Hellabrunn zoo 14/12

52. Agile wallaby/Notamacropus agilis
