That makes sense I don’t have much experience with online chatrooms.Interesting, it is a very widely used abbreviation across the board online.

A term I’ve been known to use for a certain type of zookeeper is ‘goat botherer’![]()
Seen (and used) GPO to refer to Giant Pacific Octopus a couple times.
And of course AL - amur leopardAnd of course member abbrevations, which can also be useful:
TLD - TeaLovingDave
Chli - Chlidonias
Sim - Simon Hampel
Thylo - ThylacineAlive
OC - Onychorynchus coronatus
ZF15 - Zoofan15
Funky - Funky Gibbon
Think that's more or less it for the more widespread ones, have also heard AD in relation to Arizona Docent etc.
HWP - Highland Wildlife Park, also.
HWP - Highland Wildlife Park, also
HWP= Highland Wildlife Park
I always thought retic is used for the reticulated python, not the giraffe.Retic - reticulated giraffe
This is one I don't like. CPZ could imply the Central Park Zoo, or the Capron Park Zoo, or the Cameron Park Zoo, or any number of other zoos with these initials. I think we need to be very cautious when using abbreviations that they can't be misunderstood for something else. For instance, it may be okay to use CPZ in a thread about Central Park Zoo, but I wouldn't recommend using it in a general zoo discussion thread.CPZ = Central Park Zoo

Well I guess now you know why @Coelacanth18 seems so confused when you say that at your zoo they feed rabbits to the retics.I always thought retic is used for the reticulated python, not the giraffe.
Just a certain type of keeper who is interested mainly in the domestic goats, and much less interested in the actual true species in the same collection. Trust me, I’ve worked with those peopleLol, what is a "goat botherer" ?
It sounds both disgusting and illegal.
