ZooChat v4 suggestions

I was wondering if its possible that on any future website updates, the Zoo dropdown can have a typeable autocomplete feature? When trying to add media or even filter a specific zoo in say the US section, its a bit annoying to have to scroll through a very long list of options just to find the one you want. Being able to type in the dropdown and having it filter a automatic list based on what you typed would be more convenient I think.

There were conservations on a 'state by state' dropdown but this would take to long. For the longer dropdown lists I'd suggest just pressing Control/Command + F and typing in the name of the zoo, which takes very little time indeed and often circumvents the frustration of the zoo not being under the name you thought it would be.

That's a good suggestion, though unfortunately it wouldn't work on mobile.

If you type the first two letters, it'll take you to them.
 
I'd like a tagging system for zoochat images. Definitely by species, zoo, and things like habitat blueprints

As Simon has pointed out, this is already long in place - most of us just don't bother for the amount of time it would take to do it for all the photos we upload. Very few photos are actually tagged and most relevant search terms are usually in the title anyways; also why would we need to tag what zoo when all photos are already sorted to their respective facilities except in a few cases?

Some zoos have pages and pages full of media which could take a long time to look through; and when looking for specific media, eg. the giraffes at the Memphis Zoo, it would be much easier to just search up giraffe + memphis zoo to get the result. Personally, I think it would be much better if media was tagged in that way, as I myself have spent ages looking for some certain media; although i've found you can simply do this by searching up eg. memphis zoo giraffes + zoochat on google and then clicking on images.

In that example, why would you not just go to the Memphis Zoo gallery and search for giraffe? Why do it on Google?

You do know you can do this right? I do searches like that on a regular basis, very handy.

No, no I don't think I worded it properly.

I was just explaining why tags are so important; and why they should be used more frequently than they are.

You said "i've found you can simply do this by searching up eg. memphis zoo giraffes + zoochat on google and then clicking on images." Why do this instead of simply searching for giraffe directly in the Memphis Zoo gallery?

There's no need for the tags in this example - by a simple search any photo in the Memphis gallery with "giraffe" in the title, description, or comments will pop up as results.
You very clearly stated that you were unaware of this function of the Zoochat search bar by stating you turn to Google's instead.

Because not all media is tagged, so I have to resort to a simple google search.

The thing is, not all media comes up, only those that have 'giraffe' in the actual title or are tagged with 'giraffe'.

Take a search for yourself. I've just searched up Melbourne Zoo's gorillas and it only comes up with a selective few results of media.

Isn't that how a selective search is supposed to work?

Edit: Though I'm thinking you are pointing more towards the handful of photos that are not labeled with helpful attributes - but really, who's going to go put all those tags in throughout the gallery? There's many thousands of photos on Zoochat that lack tags, nobody wants to go do it nor do I think anyone will.

Yes, but what i'm saying is, it would be better if all media is tagged in that way.

For instance, i've seen a lot of media recently of just the animals name; eg. Kimya (the gorilla). So the photo of 'Kimya' is not gonna come up in the search. That's my point.
