A new Bornean Orangutan (the female Nuninka, from Usti Zoo in Czechia) arrived in Beauval yesterday, maybe to replace the former breeder female Janah, who left Beauval with her last son few weeks ago.

The first son of the pair, Yuan Meng, was born in 2017.
His trip back to China was planned in 2020 or 2021, but delayed due to covid 19.
He has grown to the adult size since, and he would fly back to China in late 2022 or early 2023.

Indeed the female (Huan Huan) had twins in 2017, but only one young (Yuan Meng) survived.

Many births again in late Summer in Beauval : 4 Black-cheeked Lovebirds, 3 Sun Conures, 3 Patagonian Maras (1 male, 2 females), 1 Domestic Dwarf Goat, 30 Scarlet Ibises (!), 5 Dwarf Mongooses, 1 Philippine Sailfin Lizard, 1 Indian Porcupine, 1 African Spoonbill, 8 Assassin Bugs, 1 Southern Three-banded Armadillo and 2 Sitatungas.

Probably future dwellers of the Amazonian aviary.
I hope not, as it is an Asian species.... Unless Antoine means Black-faced ibis.

The coral nursery (a new small building behind the Australian greenhouse...) has opened in September, while inside the greenhouse, there's a new tank with jellyfishes (I don't know the species) since last days.

The newly displayed jellyfishes (they can be seen since 4th October 2022) belong to the species Phyllorhiza punctata (Australian spotted jellyfish), they come from La Rochelle Aquarium.
Ca. 20 individuals can be admired in their new tank in the Australian Greenhouse.
Beside this building, the new coral nursery has opened in mid-September.
Ca. 10 coral species are displayed there (I haven't more details for now).

Alpacas recently arrived in the mini-farm (children's zoo).
This species has already been displayed in Beauval, in the 1990's/2000's.

I've seen seahorses (without details for the species) in the coral nursery today.
And new fish (Banggai cardinalfish, convict tang and others) in the main aquarium of the Australian pavilion.

A few births noticed between mid-September and mid-October : 1 De Brazza's Guenon, 1 Kirk's Dik-dik, 1 Painted Wood Turtle, 2 Arboreal Ratsnakes, 2 Sitatungas and 1 Humboldt's Penguin.

Due to a second case of avian influenza around Beauval, the bird show will be stopped tomorrow.
It's unlikely that it will be resumed before next Spring, as it stops usually from mid-November until the end of the winter.
Moreover, the Griffon Vultures and Pelicans ceased to be displayed in the show for several weeks, to prevent collisions with the lifting devices and other machines used for the building of the nearby Amazonian aviary.

Colin Tudge wrote 'Last Animals at the Zoo' 30 years ago. He said that giant pandas should be kept in a group of 2 males and 1 female, as males need to compete in order to interest the female in mating with a male. He said that females have little interest in mating with a single male she has seen on several occasions.
