ZooParc de Beauval Zooparc de Beauval news 2023

The White Lioness ANOUCHKA has left her former exhibit in the old Cat quarters.
She has been transferred in the new Lion zone (Terre des Lions, that opened in 2017 for the South African Lion pride), but remains off-show for now.

Various news from Beauval :
  • the refurbishment works in the Fruit Bat aviary have ended, its access is now open to the visitors ;
  • refurbishment of the former Sloth enclosure, it seems that Beauval will bring back this species (Two-toed Sloth) after the death of the former pair one year ago ;
  • the Douc Langurs have been put off-show for a short time (veterinary reasons) ;
  • the Australian Spotted Jellyfishes seem to have been replaced by another Jellyfish species.

A few news from Beauval :
  • New climbing gear on the Ring-tailed Lemurs' island ;
  • At least one Spectacled Owl displayed in the bird show (this species is already kept and bred there for many years).

According to a recent Instagram post, the opening date for the giant South American walkthrough aviary is set for April 15th.

I don't know if seriemas are the best of the choices. In Avifauna they had to put out of the free ranging area after kill some chicks in front of public and in my experience with seriemas, they kill all kind of small birds and mammals...

Maybe they will stay in a separate enclosure ?
And many species nest or breed in the trees, out of the beaks and claws of the Seriemas.

A lot of recent news from Beauval :
  • Arrival or return of many birds in the Bird Greenhouse (Serre des Oiseaux) that looked a bit empty for a couple of years : 0.1 Painted Bunting Passerina ciris, 0.2 Ultramarine Grosbeaks Cyanoloxia brissonii, 1.1 Red-legged Honeycreepers Cyanerpes cyaneus, all new species for the Zoo. The Wattled Jacanas are back on show after several months/years of absence, and 1.1 Black-bellied Whistling Ducks (a species that was absent for many years) are also present, the latter species will be displayed in the future South American aviary too ;
  • A Two-toed Sloth called WHOOPI is already displayed in this greenhouse ; I don't know his/her origin ;
  • The White-belted Black-and-White Ruffed Lemurs arrived too, but they remain in their night quarters for now.
