With respect, whilst I share your irritation regarding Whipsnade'S tigers, the London situation is entirely different. The male Sumatran tiger has now killed 2 potential mates(one before going to London) and imo should be moved to a sanctuary to lead a solitary life, allowing London to bring in a new pair. London can do without the publicity of a 3rd mistake since the new exhibit opened!
Asim did not kill any female's before he came to London. He was born at Frankfurt (2011) and moved to Heidelberg the following year. At Heidelberg he was paired up with a very young female (she was less than 18 months old when they were introduced). Because she was so young she was still very cub like and playful. Asim didn't tolerate her playfulness and became aggressive. She became fearful of him. Because of this it was decided to separate them and Asim was sent to Ree Park and successfully paired with an adult female.
