Pairi Daiza Pairi Daiza News 2019

The temple is occasionally open to the public - it is the indoors for two of their females - Praya and Jana.
The modern indoors you’re referring to is actually a huge barn behind the massive open field you’re referring to - you can see the building (and the bulls if you’re lucky) from the train.

Thankyou. Another question, can you view the big elephant field from anywhere except on the train? I completely missed it as I didn't use the train- not that it mattered but interested to know if you can see it by overlooking from above the temple or something.

There is a viewpoint behind the Elephant temple and the second Orangutan enclosure.

Between the elephant temple and the orangutan enclosure there is a ramp that leads up to a lookout point! You can see the enclosure fairly well from here, but I've never taken the train so I don't know how it compares. It's an impressive enclosure when it comes to the size, but from this lookout point it does look very empty.

Have just uploaded 2 photos of the elephant-enclosure outside the walls of Pairi Daiza in the Pairi Daiza Gallery which I made Sept. last year.

Some better pictures are already around in the gallery:

Thankyou Lintworm, Vision and 'VC'. I completely forgot about this large elephant enclosure while I was there as I didn't refer to the map too closely, but afterwards when I got back to the UK, I guessed I had probably missed a viewpoint over it somewhere!

The striped skunks are actually with the raccoons in the land of the cold! I saw them during my visit

Pairi Daiza just announced on their Facebook page that sadly baby Sumatran orangutan Sungai, born October 30th, 2018, unexpectedly passed away last night.

The whole explanation of the cause of death given in the text, linked below (in Dutch, unfortunately) is a bit strange I think.

They speak about a congenital malformation of Sungai's jaw that led to him not being able to suckle anymore and him getting weaker. Medical examination and medical care could not save him as he was already too weak to recover. I find it a bit strange that this problem only leads to issues in an animal after nine months, then kills it seemingly very quickly.
