Are not all Yorkshire's Polars, males...?
They are indeed. The only female bear YWP has had was the female Ussuri Brown Bear.

I assume so, I was wrong-tracked by the mention of female polar bear Flocke (born 2007 in Nuernberg and apparently at Antibes at the moment). Are not all Yorkshire's Polars, males...?

If the poster that mentioned Flocke can elaborate on mentioning her in his post ..., that would be nice.
There was a discussion/rumour (when Rasputin arrived) that Flocke would also potentially move to Yorkshire once her current cubs are old enough to leave her.
TBH: YWP was lucky to be allowed to get both male and female polar bear fairly soon on opening their exhibit(s). Being part of the EAZA/EEP and the animals on loan being at the discretion of other zoos and EEP/EAZA means the species coordinator decides who gets to go where.
Personally, probably a good thing the male Rasputin now has a breeding recommendation at Tallinn Zoo. If we care to look overseas to US and Canada the North American AZA the situation is not so rosy.
Possibly is, YWP do tend to submit applications after they’ve completed the work.I thought the campsite was already open.
The Roar and Snore campsite opened on 22nd July, and appears to be popular!I thought the campsite was already open.
Yes they do I went yestarday and we saw all 3 red pandas and just 1 smooth coated otter.A video today has been published on their Facebook page which details that they now hold 3 female red pandas & a male/female pair of the smooth-coated otters. No information on from where either species were obtained.
The second application was for a pumping and filtration building for brackish water needed for an exhibit.
So it looks like the expansion is going to carry on hopefully.
Looks like the Sealion and/or penguin exhibits mentioned previously for the expansion will be happening!
