Seems cosy and switched on with cows and they show interest in HIM.
Yes it is. The elephants live together with a group of hamadryas baboons.

This is not the first meets with cows.
Yambo first met them in a smaller exhibit on this video. He seems to understand each other and I wouldn't be surprised if we had at least one calf in two years.
so sabi is not part of the breeding group? She had a calf in 2001(?). Or is she considered “flatliner” now?

Sabi will no longer have a calf. She had the only calf one twenty years ago, and that's too long.
might as well. Abu already had quite a few offspring.

Oh no! I have now discovered on this site that Luna and Jane from Lisbon are dead! Jane was scheduled to die in late 2020 and Luna in February this year. The same is written on elephant.se. Can someone please confirm this. In the last photo from this summer, only three cows are really visible. If that's true, it's overwhelming. But the zoo did not report anything.

Yes, I tried to find as many recent videos from Lisbon as possible and there are more than three cows. In one video, I dare say it's Luna. So I don't think any cow may have died at all. It's fake news. Fortunately...
Among other things, the article on the opening of a new exhibition for elephants, which is several months old, states that they would like to have calves in the zoo. No cow is pregnant, but they hope it will be. So hopefully they will finally start devoting themselves to breeding as best they can.
It is about bloody time in Lisboa? They have been diddering for close on a decade or so (pretty much Knowsley and WSMP style) with their elephants. Do they have a future yet? How old are all the cows. ....

Unfortunately ... They should have replaced the bull a long time ago. It's a loss of breeding cows. Nina, Luna and Jane probably won't have a calf anymore. But if they did something earlier, it could be different. Primavera and Assuncao are also at an age when they must have a calf. Maybe the new exhibit will change something ...
