I think she’s old enough to have kids isn’t she? Is she related to the bull there now?

She is 8 years old so she could breed now, and of the three boys, she is only related to her nephews: Brazos and Bowie, so Colonel Tusk and Romeo are potential mates for her. That being said, it’ll probably be at least two years until a calf is on the ground.

also kind of off topic but @Mr.Ivory I saw you posted that Rose Tu was pregnant at the Oregon Zoo. When did the zoo announce her pregnancy?

Belle is still at Fort Worth Zoo and living with her mother Rasha and older sister Bluebonnet, The zoo did not announce her pregnancy but there is a strong amount of evidence to say that she could be pregnant

got it! I know Asha for sure is pregnant at the Oklahoma City Zoo. I’m hoping though some of Saint Louis Zoo and Columbus Zoo elephants are pregnant. I don’t believe Jade has ever had a calf so she needs to start breeding in the future or she’ll end up fertile. I think that’s the same situation for Rudy and Sunny at Columbus correct?

Jade has never had a calf nor Rudy and Sunny, but all three of those cows could be pregnant and due in 2023

The sire for Sunny and Rudy is either Hank or Beco, for Jade the sire could be Hank, Beco, Rex, Sneezy or Bodhi

There's a very good chance Belle is already pregnant. Not very far along though, probably just a couple months along. Romeo has been mixed with Rasha, Belle, and Bluebonnet a lot since the opening of Elephant Springs and I recently saw a photo of him with Angel as well. Maybe they are hoping to get her pregnant as well, though I doubt that's going to happen.

Jade, Maliha, Rudy, and Sunny all need to breed asap. I have a feeling Rudy and/or Sundara may already be pregnant and am very hopeful Jade and Maliha are too via AI. I read a couple days ago that two cows were recommended by the SSP to breed via AI in 2020 (and two in 2022) so maybe it was them and fingers crossed they are pregnant.

that’s a good sign then. I hope Saint Louis Zoo has more calves in particular just because they had one last year but then it died, and I don’t remember any other calves born between 2010 to 2019. I know Jade was born their I think in 2007. ( I only know the year she was born). Things though do seem to be looking a lot better for the Asian Elephant Population. It’s been a disaster with African Elephants

That was Mali. Maliha is Raja and Ellie's daughter born in 2006 and lives at STL.

and I don’t remember any other calves born between 2010 to 2019.

Raja and Ellie's second calf Priya was born in 2013.

OH! I always thought that Mali and Maliha were the same elephant! My mistake lol. But yes she should be breeding and getting pregnant (as in like now). The 4 main ones for me that I’m hoping are pregnant are Jade, Sunny, Rudy, and Mail

I doubt that Fort Worth will be trying to breed from Angel she has never had a calf and she is past her prime. I am also hoping that both Maliha and Jade will become pregnant and also Priya soon

The way you can tell them apart is by their head shape Jade looks more like her mother Rani, while Maliha looks more like Ellie and Priya
