On April 16th, 2020, the zoo announced it has finished completing its catch pen system and a Veterinary observation pen for their American bison.

On November 9th, it was reported that Angela Anthony will be the next director for the zoo (and park), as well as Katie Southworth will become the new assistant zoo and park director. They start on November 16th and this was due to the retiring of the old director.

On June 1st, the zoo announced they have acquired a (0.0.1) western hognose snake. The zoo also announced that their (1.1) Burmese pythons passed away in March and October 2020 respectively.

On June 29th, the zoo announced they have acquired a (1.0) red fox named Bubs from the Clay Center Zoo in Kansas the week prior.
They also announced that their (0.1) red fox, named Lady Fox, passed away in February 2021 due to kidney failure in old age.

On January 24th, the zoo announced they moved their domestic chinchillas from the park office to the Steven's Building, and are now on exhibit.

On March 11th, the zoo announced that their (1.0) elk (species not specified) named Tommy passed away at age 14 from a heart attack.

On May 13th, the zoo announced they acquired a (0.1) Linne's two-toed sloth from Camel Safari Las Vegas in Nevada which is now on exhibit in the former kinkajou exhibit (the kinkajou is experiencing health problems) in the Steven's Building.

On July 12th, the zoo announced that they reopened the Steven's Building and, besides a paintjob, acquired a (0.1) Dumeril's boa named Gypsy from the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department after it was found in a residence of animal abuse charges and is now on exhibit.
