News since April 2020:

On April 16th, 2020, the zoo announced it has finished completing its catch pen system and a Veterinary observation pen for their American bison.

On April 23rd, the zoo announced they have recently renovated their African spurred tortoise exhibit.

On November 9th, it was reported that Angela Anthony will be the next director for the zoo (and park), as well as Katie Southworth will become the new assistant zoo and park director. They start on November 16th and this was due to the retiring of the old director.

On February 9th, 2021, the zoo announced that (0.2) American bison were born over the summer of 2020.

On February 14th, the zoo announced the names of the bison, Beth Dutton and Honeysuckle.

On December 1st, the zoo announced that they have created a master plan spanning 20 years. The exact masterplan isn't publicly available yet, but some details have leaked out, including new animals, better exhibits, and the preservation of the Monkey Island.

On December 15th, the zoo announced that their (1.0) fallow deer named Bucky has rejoined the mixed exhibit with the American bison after being in a quarantine pen following food issues.

On June 22nd, the zoo announced that their (1.0) red golden pheasant named Fabio has moved exhibits as his former home will be home to a (0.0.1) red fox.

On June 29th, the zoo announced they have acquired a (1.0) red fox named Bubs from the Clay Center Zoo in Kansas the week prior.

They also announced that their (0.1) red fox, named Lady Fox, passed away in February 2021 due to kidney failure in old age.

On September 28th, the zoo announced they acquired (2.0) domestic chinchillas named Dumbledore and Professor Snape which are now on exhibit at the office by the train.

On November 14th, the zoo announced that a (1.0) alpaca named Taffy passed away at age 15 due to a large clot in his mesenteric vein.

On November 29th, the zoo announced that a (0.1) bald eagle named Monica passed away.

On March 11th, the zoo announced that their (1.0) elk (species not specified) named Tommy passed away at age 14 from a heart attack.

On April 11th, the zoo announced they acquired (1.1) black-headed spider monkeys from the Virginia Safari Park in Virginia and the Gulf Breeze Zoo in Florida respectively.*

On July 12th, the zoo announced that they reopened the Steven's Building and, besides a paintjob, acquired a (0.1) Dumeril's boa named Gypsy from the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department after it was found in a residence of animal abuse charges and is now on exhibit.
