Sorry for seemingly attack you it was not my intention, it is indeed your opinion and I'm expressing my opinion too, but your pack idea is literally incoherent with itself, because if it's an aviary pack it should sell animals that exclusively work with it, I'm giving my opinion on your opinion.Look, calm down. These are just birds that the fans would like, and it's part of what I would like to see in the future. I'd love to know your opinions on animals you'd like to see added, but remember, this is just an opinion forum.
That's a mistake of mine, I thought you guys were talking about animal rides. Also, Zoo Tycoon 2 had ambient squirrels, frogs, fish and birds. And it too was a zoo simulator.
No worries. Maybe a name like "avian animal pack" would have worked better.Sorry for seemingly attack you it was not my intention, it is indeed your opinion and I'm expressing my opinion too, but your pack idea is literally incoherent with itself, because if it's an aviary pack it should sell animals that exclusively work with it, I'm giving my opinion on your opinion.
Wonderful idea for a DLC, buuut... Isn't the bactrian camel part of the game already? Maybe you meant the dromedary?I'm trying to come up with what kinds of DLC packs I'd like to see...
Urban Wildlife: This pack would feature animals found in urban environments around the world. It would also include an urban building theme, I think builders would go nuts for that. Animal roster could be something like:
Red fox
Sika deer
Chacma baboon
Raccoon
Southern alligator lizard (exhibit species)
Deserts: Animals from the desert. Building theme could maybe be a Wild West thing.
Ringtail
Caracal
Bighorn sheep
Bactrian camel
Thorny devil (exhibit species)
Tropical Forests: Tropical forests are so diverse in wildlife, you can't go wrong with a pack. Since we already have some packs that have rainforest-style decor, I think this could just be an animal pack.
Ocelot
Matschie's tree kangaroo
Gray langur
Coquerel's sifaka
Collared peccary
Indian muntjac
Two-toed sloth
Orchid mantis (exhibit animal)
Ungulata: I don't expect PZ to make packs based around taxonomic groups, but I'd be really happy if they did! It would be an easy way to include commonly requested species as well as some more obscure ones, and add diversity to the overall game.
Gerenuk
Eurasian wild boar
Dik-dik
Red river hog
Greater kudu
Elk
Markhor
Musk ox
Carnivora: Another all-animals pack.
Fishing cat
Aardwolf
Walrus
Fossa
Maned wolf
Wolverine
Spectacled bear
Ratel

The only day Frontier is gonna be this generous is the day they get bought by someone else much less greedy than them, so in this instance your "pack" idea is totally unrealistic and out of the world without any minimal doubtNew animals:
- Patagonian mara (Dolichotis patagonum)
- Pirarucu (Arapaima gigas)
- Redtail catfish (Phractocephalus hemioliopterus)
- Barren ground muskox (Ovibos moschatus moschatus)
- Crested porcupine (Hystrix cristata)
- European wolverine (Gulo gulo gulo)
- Alligator snapping turtle (Macrochelys temminckii)
- European golden eagle (Aquila chrysaetos chrysaetos)
- Southern ground hornbill (Bucorvus leadbeateri)
- Beluga whale (Delphinapterus leucas)
- collared peccary (Dicotyles tajacu)
- Spectacled bear (Tremarctos ornatus)
- Somali wild ass (Equus africanus somaliensis)
- Cotton-top tamarin (Saguinus oedipus)
- Panther chameleon (Furcifer pardalis)
- African giant millipede (Archispirostreptus gigas)
- Red-bellied piranha (Pygocentrus nattereri)
- Barred Mudskipper (Periophthalmus argentilineatus)
- Giant owl butterfly (Caligo telamonius memnon)
XDDD True, true... Still, wouldn't it be lovely? But ok, if I had to pick like 1 animal in the update... I'd actually go with the tamarin. It's a SUPER common zoo animal whose absence is greatly noted. The only day Frontier is gonna be this generous is the day they get bought by someone else much less greedy than them, so in this instance your "pack" idea is totally unrealistic and out of the world without any minimal doubt
You know, amongst the community it is actually growing this kind of Mountain/Highlands theme for the next pack mainly for ZT2 nostalgia, so you hit 2 strikes without realizingOk, it looks like Frontier read my mind and stole my “Endangered Animal Pack” idea, right down to the Axolotl exhibit and adding brachiation. No worries, though! I’ve got another wonderful idea for a pack, and this one’s a regular pack with a building theme! Introducing… the Mountains/Alpine Pack! I like to think of this pack as a throwback/tribute to the Alpine biome from Zoo Tycoon 1 and 2 that kind of got mashed together with Boreal Forest to create Planet Zoo’s Taiga Biome. As for the animals, here’s what I’ve chosen:
As for the building theme, I imagine it would be something that would let you build a convincing ski lodge (I don’t know much about building themes, sorry). The free update for this pack could also reintroduce the elevation mechanic from the zoo tycoon games, but more refined so that an optimal snow leopard habitat isn’t a giant hill with bad viewing.
- The 4 habitat animals in this pack each represent a mountain range from their respective continents, and to keep with the soft “throwback” theme of the pack itself, they are all species from past Zoo Tycoons! First up is the Markhor, representing the Himalayas. I’ve already said that Planet Zoo needs more greater Asian ungulates, and we’ve certainly gotten some more with the Water Buffalo and the Wild Horse. Like the wild horse, the Markhor has been in both ZT1 and ZT2, but it has yet to make an appearance in PZ. Plus, how could you look at those horns and not include them.
- Representing the Andes mountains is the Andean Bear. I know some people in the PZ community don’t really want another bear, but I think that’s more the fault of Frontier adding the Himalayan Brown Bear and not bothering to make it look different from the grizzly than there being “too many bears”. The Andean Bear is also another South American animal, which we definitely need more of!
- Africa’s Ethiopian Highlands are represented by the Gelada. I know Planet Zoo already has a lot of African animals, but there are still some key ones missing, namely a baboon species (yes I know Geladas aren’t true baboons, but they’re an African primate that doesn’t live in rainforests, which is more of what I mean). Frontier could also include their iconic “lip-flip” for a bit of flair.
- I struggled to find a decent animal to represent the Rockies of North America, but I ultimately settled on the Wolverine. I’ve wanted this animal for a while now, but it missed the bus for both the North American Animal Pack and the Europe Pack! This might be the “flagship” of the pack, but I could reasonably see any one of these 4 filling that role.
- For the exhibit animal, I’ve chosen the Mangshan Pit Viper because we’ve yet to get a DLC snake, and also because we don’t have many Asian exhibit animals (just the forest scorpion and the leaf insect).
Current species that are good candidates to have elevation requirements include the Snow Leopard, Alpine Ibex, Dall Sheep, Cougar, Llama, and Himalayan Brown Bear.
And that’s it! Will Frontier steal this idea, too? Who knows?
I actually had a very similar idea to this, with the markhor, Andean bear, gelada, and Mangshan pit viper all part of my concept. However, mine was an animal pack, and instead of the wolverine, I had the American mountain goat, wild yak, Palla's cat, and alpine marmot.Ok, it looks like Frontier read my mind and stole my “Endangered Animal Pack” idea, right down to the Axolotl exhibit and adding brachiation. Fossa, tree kangaroo, coconut crab, I *assume* lowland anoa or Tasmanian devil, North Island brown kiwi, rockhopper penguin, either Grand Cayman blue or marine iguana and walrus? It's summer, it's hot outside, I'm bored, and I've got another pack idea! I've had this one in my head since the days of the Europe Pack, but I've changed the animals at least 5 different times since then. I present to you... the Island Animal Pack! Like the Mountains/Alpine Pack, this pack is also a "throwback" pack of sorts, but not to anything official! I'm not sure if Frontier would do something like this, but this pack is a throwback to Artifex's Island Excursions expansion for Zoo Tycoon 2. However, most of the animals in Island Excursions aren't common in captivity (or even in captivity in the first place), so the animals I've chosen for this pack aren't from IE, with one exception.
The "theme" I picture Frontier going with is a sailing expedition, much like the road trip for the North America Animal Pack. It would chronicle a clueless sailor following a map to a buried treasure on "the other side of the world". But what about the animals? Well, this sailor has never seen any of these animals before, and to make this post a little different, I've decided to not reveal what the animals are! You have to guess what and where they are based on the descriptions I give! Remember, it's one animal per island, no repeats! Here we go!
Can you guess what 8 animals the sailor saw? I will reveal them in a separate post after a few guesses have been made. This is the most effort I've ever put in one of these Planet Zoo posts, holy cow. That'll be all for now!
- Our poor, clueless treasure hunter follows his map to a fairly large island with a dry forest of thorny trees. In the middle of the night, he hears strange, ghostly sounds, and sees shadows leaping through the trees! Suddenly, the "ghosts" scatter, and the sailor sees what made them do so: a sleek, cat-like creature with a long tail and glowing eyes. Scared out of his wits, the sailor runs back to his boat and leaves!
- The map leads the sailor to a tropical island with lots of mountains. He's minding his own business, when all of a sudden, something soft crash-lands right on top of him! The creature is brown and gold, with a second head on it's stomach! The sailor and the creature exchange looks before going their separate ways.
- The sailor spies a shipwreck on a beach, and comes ashore to investigate. Maybe there's treasure in here? He sticks his arm into a hole in the wreckage, but immediately regrets it! Something just bit his hand! As he backs away from the shipwreck, the creature that attacked him starts to follow him; all he sees is an armored, multi-jointed leg before he hurries back to the boat to tend to his hand and get out!
- The maps leads our sailor friend to an island that isn't as warm or tropical as the others he's visited. All through the night, he hears snarling, growling, and screeching! He steels himself up to investigate, and comes across something even more horrifying than the sounds: a stout, dark-furred animal with a blood red face! "A demon!", he cries out before turning tail and spending the night on his boat.
- The sailor follows his map to another temperate island, and thankfully, there are no demons here! But there aren't a whole lot of furry creatures here, either. That all changes when our intrepid explorer spies a brown fuzzball poking around in the dirt. "Could it be looking for treasure, too?" he says as he approaches it. Before he can get too close, though, the fuzzball sprints away on two legs! Confused, the sailor heads back to his boat and sets sail again.
- After several days of seeing nothing but ice and ocean, the map leads the sailor to a rocky island with lots of cliffs. Along the coast, he sees... tiny men in tuxedos? No, it couldn't be... Why would a bunch of sharply-dressed men with bushy, golden eyebrows be hopping over the rocky coast? As much as he wanted to come ashore and investigate, he had to keep sailing. And so he did.
- As he followed his map, the sailor swore he saw a sea monster swimming next to his boat! But that would be silly, right? As he passed the coast (which was starting to feel warm and tropical again), he saw a whole bunch of sea monsters basking in the sun! Their backs were covered in spines, and their scaly skin was adorned with red and greenish-blue hues. As one crawled onto the shore from the ocean, it blew out some smoke from its nose! "Good thing I'm not on the beach with them..." thought the sailor as he passed them.
- Finally, the sailor reached the other side of the world! This island was the ideal tropical paradise! Palm trees, white sand beaches, and a big "X" not too far away! Before he could start digging, though, the sailor saw a mermaid lazing on the shore. She had long hair, but it was on her lips instead of the top of her head. She had a tail, but it wasn't scaly and pretty. And her singing voice was... more of a bark. Oh well, that treasure wasn't going to uncover itself! The sailor grabbed his shovel, started digging, and uncovered... the animals he saw on his trip in the form of various set pieces? What a weirdly specific treasure...
