ZooChat Challenge Global 2022

I think you might be right... :) BUT owing to the fact flying squirrels as a genus are nocturnal pretty much exclusively then I'm leaving it here until @ZooBinh tells me it doesn't count and then I'm going to sulk and demand they're added to the countable list!:D:p

Considering how difficult is to see any of those, you have right to claim :p At 3 zoos, in a total 9 visits, I have never seen one of the other two species .But I didn't try hard, either :)

You can sulk all you want! But yes, you cannot count them, unfortunately. A great find regardless :p.

Pretty pleased with that list as there are two lifers on it, plus I got my first ever Shoebill today as well so that was a nice bonus! :D And what's the deal with Singing Dogs? Are they countable or not?
re NGSD; the ruling up thread was that they can be counted, or Dingo, but not both.

well done on spotting the flying squirrel and genet at Tropiquaria! i have stared at those enclosures a number of times in the last few months :)

apologies see this has been answered already, too many tabs open! :)

But they're clearly more nocturnal than raccoons and coatis, and probably more so than most crocodilians....... ;):p
Welp, it’s an imperfect list and too late in the game to make changes ;). I suppose you’ll just have to suck it up, buttercup :p:D:rolleyes:.

Impressive haul considering how many zoos/months we are into the competition!

I think I am on for a full sweep of available cat species in the UK with planned trips later this year that would take in Jungle Cat, Bobcat, Ocelot, Snow Leopard, Geoffroy's Cat and Pallas Cat all being well...

I have removed number 89 - Fanaloka and replace with Large Hairy Armadillo Chaetophractus villosus which i saw in the corner exhibit of the reptile room mixed with hyrax etc at Exmoor.

I have then had a productive couple of days off heading across to Kent for the Big Cat Sanctuary open day and back...

*blanked on Aardwolf again, turning into a bit of a bogey animal for me following blanking at Hamerton (while they were still there and waiting until closing). I take some solace that i believe the individual now at Hemsley I have in all likelihood seen at the RSCC when it was operating.
**also blanked on Geoffroy's Cat scuppering my chances for a full sweep on cat species available in the UK somewhat...
***Echidna is back on show contrary to website.

There is second exhibit with Ring-tailed possum at Hamerton now and I saw fur few times there, but not the whole animal. I need to try again... ARK Wildlife Park on the other side, safe the day and gave us whole 3 spieces of Genets.

If Port Lympne still has the Owston's Civet, is not on display.

After double checked all entries with ZTL, I found two interesting ommisions:
I didn't know that the Poached rat at Plzen and at Vienna are two different species. I saw the both animals, but as a mentioned before, I thought that they are same species.

I found out also that the Oncilla at Hamerton is actually Northern Oncilla, different to the Southern Oncilla at Berlin. I believe @ThylacineAlive and @ZooBinh are OK with the split?

After they received West African Crocodile not long ago, Krokodille zoo claimed to have all 24 species of Crocodillians on display. This exclude the new taxons Hall's New Guinea crocodile and Osborn's dwarf crocodile. Both were available only at St. Augustine Alligator Farm in US, while Osborn's could be still present in Spain.

When it comes to the Slender-snouted Crocodile, Krokodille zoo have animals from, at least two different origins, but haven't tested them yet. They have one animal from the old Emmen zoo.

The West African Crocodiles are only babies, which are on display but not labelled yet. Seems like Copenhagen zoo also received babies from this species. I saw them in the Reinforest house.

Another species I forgot from LA:

89. Cuvier's Dwarf Caiman (Paleosuchus palpebrosus)

and the one new species I got from Santa Barbara last weekend:

90. Tawny Frogmouth (Podargus strigoides)
