Penguin fundraiser at $300,000 and counting as Cameron Park Zoo officials try to keep up with rising construction costs

The new additions to the zoo include an Education Center, Vet Hospital and the Penguin Shores Exhibit.
The Penguin Shores Exhibit will allow zookeepers to facilitate breeding for the endangered South African black-footed penguins.

There was some question if proposed black-footed cats had been dropped from the plans, but this states they are still included in the expansion. The Black-footed cat habitat is mentioned here (August 2022): Waco: Zoo expansion project $10 million short
The zoo have found themselves $10 million short for these projects due to increased construction costs and other factors. Taking out the Black-footed cat and family restrooms would mean they’re around $7.8 million short.
