Yorkshire Wildlife Park Yorkshire Wildife Park news 2024

Have never had a voucher (have the lower membership) might be a good idea to give them a ring and check. It might be pretty busy though the weather might out a few people off, the last BH I went was a bit full on!

Yeah I did think about calling, but I don't really like that, haha, so thought I'd ask here first.

I know, but due to boyfriends job and the awful weather the past months there's very limited days we can do something (hence saving for driving lessons now). I don't really mind going somewhere when it rains, just don't want to be soaked upon arriving, lol.

Dogs 4 Wildlife have been training two dogs to join anti poaching team in Africa at the park. Fudge a two year old Cocker Spanial and Rocket an fifteen month red Labrador have been getting familiar with smells and sounds of animals such as giraffe, leopard etc. Yorkshire Wildlife Park are wishing them all the best.

Just saw a Facebook post showing another baby Red Howler monkey. That’s 3 youngsters now. They are certainly breeding well.
Great news, I wish more zoos would go into this species. They were a no show on my visit in 2022, but I may be able to squeeze in another later this year where I hope to be more successful in spotting the howlers!

0,1 Amur tiger ‘Sayan’ euthanised this morning due to age-related illnesses. This leaves YWP with 0,1.

That's a shame though a good age to achieve. She was a pretty tiger and the enclosures there do make for some good viewing.

She'd been in residence since 2011 according to the FB page - it must be a really sad time for her keepers.

Indeed she was, a good innings - be interested to see what YWP’s plans are for their tigers now with only the single female remaining. Plenty of tigers in Europe which need moving around from cubs born over the last few years.
