Maybe its just me, but I don't see how those images show that there's construction going on at World of Darkness. To me it just looks like a parked truck behind a fence, which could mean any number of things. If I am missing something here though, I would be very happy to be corrected.
I mean, whatever the reason that truck is parked there, I argue that it’s more likely has to do about the building than anything else. Otherwise why park close to the building.

I agree the truck is probably parked there for a reason, but the reason doesn't necessarily have anything to do with construction. For instance, I know many zoos use old buildings like that for storage. There are a number of reasons the truck could be parked at World of Darkness.

Even if the building is not being used for any exhibits, it's likely still being maintained to some degree. I doubt they would allow the building to just rot and deteriorate away and pretend like it doesn't exist (it's still represented on their map, for what that's worth).

From what I saw on my June visits, the building is still being maintained (there were some dumpsters visible outside, suggesting some sort of clean-up or other work is being conducted in there). However, none of this, the vehicle included (which actually looks more like a van), necessarily indicates that any sort of exhibit is under construction.

Then why would a chain-link fence be put up and why would the sign saying World of Darkness have its text stripped?

Some updates from my visit on Monday:

-Two snowy owls were placed on exhibit Monday morning in the palm nut vulture enclosure in the birds of prey aviaries as the latter species is put indoors for winter
-Himalaya area was closed from the red panda area to the cave-like snow leopard viewing. It appeared they were replacing some of the wood walkway
-Jungleworld was closed for maintenance. Assuming this is just basic work for the winter. The silver leaf langurs were off habitat recently with the pool drained.
-Lots of miscellaneous maintenance projects happening around the park, including at the exit to the monorail and the lion housing

I am seeing a lot of clues here that all suggest that World of Darkness or something thematically-similar returning. Unless this is a massive bait-and-switch in the making. It's actually a bit too obvious...
It is undoubtedly what it is. There is lots of commotion around the building and construction happening. This spring I was also asked to give feedback on future signage for a new exhibit, and the animals included were aye ayes and bats.

The fact that they included Ayes-ayes also makes a strong case since I believe those are only ever held in nocturnal exhibits (I've only seen them at Omaha and Philadelphia, both of which had them in nocturnal setups).

(And speaking of which, I realized my comment above regarding work being done on the building may not have aged well...)

I think only San Diego and Duke Lemur Center don’t keep them in a Nocturnal setup. The original post of @Mary also stated it was for a “new” nocturnal house. I’m pretty sure bats and night monkeys are also a dead giveaway :p

I do not know if San Diego still has theirs out like they did, but it was hardly ever seen because it wasn’t in a nocturnal setup

If it really is a new World of Darkness coming next year.... we are so back.
