The enclosure is a bit too small so increasing it to around 100 sq. m would be better but it's still on the smaller side of enclosures (this could depend if birds are breeding or pinioned)

The exhibit would be netted over (3.5 meters tall at it's highest)

I believe Australia Zoo did this with Black Swans several years ago.
 
What kind of grouping do zoos typically keep grizzly bears (or generic brown bears, not sure exactly how different it would be) in? I was planning a decently sized habitat (about an acre) and wanted to know how many I could have in the space if it were possible to have multiple.
 
What are some Oceanian/Southeast Asian animals that are both extreme heat tolerant and cold tolerant, and are island endemics that would be good entrance animals in a zoo?

Grizzly bears are mostly housed individually. However if they were housed together at a young age like they are siblings or it’s a female with her cubs, that would work

idk how heat tolerant they are, but Gibbons and Hornbills would be great entrance animals, since they're loud, active, and colorful.

I'll also add iirc, a lot of tropical species (ones that aren't cold-blooded) can be housed year-round as long as they have access to a heated indoor area at all times.
 
I wasn’t too certain if this question belonged to the Mixed Species thread or not, but just in case, I’ll be posting the same question in both threads.

Anyways… If mixed together, would a breeding pair of Giant Anteaters disrupt the dynamics of a mix between them, a Maned Wolf, and a non-breeding pair of Lowland Tapirs?

If too risky, would a single anteater or a non-breeding pair reduce said issues?

    • Budgerigar Melopsittacus undulatus, Cockatiel Nymphicus hollandicus, Diamond Dove Geopelia cuneata, Pink Cockatoo Cacatua leadbeateri, and Zebra Finch Taeniopygia guttata
    • EDIT: I'll have no pink cockatoo
  • What fish can be housed in a paludarium for the Eastern Billabongs with: Australian Lungfish Neoceratodus forsteri, Australian Water Dragon Intellagama lesueurii, Banded Archerfish Toxotes jaculatrix, Eastern Saw-shelled Turtle Myuchelys latisternum, Eastern Snake-necked Turtle and Chelodina longicollis?
  • Could Lace Monitor Varanus varius be housed with fish from the East Billabongs? If so, what specific species could they be housed with?
  • What are some possible mammal and invertebrate animal ambassador animals for a Central Outback and East Billabongs zone? They should ideally be in American captivity

I didn‘t found any endangered species, but you have to seperate them:
• Pink Cockatoo has to be alone because it could kill the smaller birds (may you can add other cockatoo species)
• Budgerigar and Cockatiel would be fine together, if you had a big aviary you could add Diamond Dove and Zebra Finch and also Long-tailed Finch and Bush Thick-knee
 
What sort of software/application do people use to create custom zoo maps? I am intending on doing the same for my own speculative zoo project.

I don't know the specific case of the Lace Monitors (for me, mainly a species from arid lands) but I've seen Asian Water Monitors in mixed exhibits with large fish.
For me all the fish species may be fine if they are large (or small) enough not to be preys of the Monitors.

I can see various ambassador animals from these parts of Australia.
For the mammals : Red Kangaroo (female), Wombat, Echidna (if available), Dingo.
It may be more difficult with the invertebrates, but it may be possible to find a couple of spider, beetle or roach species.

Personally, I always use PowerPoint for everything. I even made a short "crash course" for learning the tools, I can send it to you

Take it from someone who made an their own Billabong zone, there really aren't that many fish to be found in captivity. Empire gudgeon (Hypseleotris compressa) and Murray rainbowfish (Melanotaenia fluviatilis) are options though. These should be fine in both reptile exhibits.

Would princess parrot work instead of the cockatoos? They would be breeding

Many years ago, I tried a mixed aviary with Cockatiel, Budgie and small finches (Zebra and Bengalese)in a large aviary and the Budgies were a real problem for the finches, especially during breeding.

I don't usually use it to make zoo maps, but Krita is free and has a good interface, I'd recommend it.
 
What animals could have rotational enclosures in a Central Outback and/or East Billabongs of Australia Zoo exhibit? Are there any benefits for the animals and how can you prevent stress?
 
Does anyone know how much space African wild dogs need? There will be 2-3 of them but I’m unsure the minimum size enclosure requirements. Thanks
