Jaz at Dudley is not Azimat x Benji(who is a nonbreeder) but Azimat x Joe (J father)-AZ(mother))- Joe being Dudley's original male.

Jorong was born at Chester(Anak x Lola) in 1995 and went to Dublin the next year with his mother.

Connections with Blackpool orangutans;

1. Azimat, mother of Jaz, is also mother of Blackpool Victoria,(Azimat x Dodo) so Jaz and Victoria are halfsisters. (Azimat was moved all round several different zoos for breeding)

2. The father of Blackpool's Cherie & Summer was Homer/Zowie, son of Dudley original male Joe (by a different female Kate), so there is a relationship on both their mother's and father's side (seperately) to past/present Dudley animals. Particularly the relatedness of Jaz (Dudley) to Summer & Cherie(Blackpool).

3. Belfast have no Orangutans, only Dublin in Ireland.
 
Been today, the baboon's are now in Inca's old pit with enough wood to fill a forest, so naturally they were sat at the back of the enclosure on concrete slabs!
There are now 2 llama's which have taken their rightful place back on the hill under the disused cablecar, as they are male and female hope there is soon a little herd.
 
There was a dudley van at twycross on Tuesday though just to tantalise further I have no idea why. My powers of nosiness failed me
 
Would i be right in guessing the new primate species would be Dusky Langurs? Twycross has always seemed to have a lot of these and IMHO were one of the best exhibits at the zoo as they were always active.

Guess again the species you named has been in decline at Twycross for about the last 5 years numbers wise,whilst the one that is arriving at Dudley can be seen in about 6 enclosures!!
 
Just done a quick search and realised i'm a total ******..what i actually meant were the Javan Langurs not dusky.

I'm not too sure what resides in 6 different enclosures but i'd hazard a guess at Siamang

Then it must be some kind of lemur.
And ZG do you know why Dudley's lemurs are mainly not in lemur wood?
Seems strange to have what is one of the zoo's best displays almost empty of lemurs while they are all caged up in samll areas in the small primate section, dont make sense to me.

Still wrong its not a Lemur!

Yes I do know why most of the Lemurs are not in the woods,but as I cannot remember if I was told it off the record I'm not going to say just in case!
 
Could it be 2 female Black Howler Monkeys as these are missing from Twycross's collection if so it would be a great addition to the Dudley Collection and just wondering where they are going to keep them as Layla the Macaque as been seperated from the others and both cages at the Primate house are now being used.
The Macaque enclosure looks like it could be a while yet as the House is still under refurbishment as is the large extention to the outdoor area also.

EDIT - As I was doing this comment a e-mail arrived from Twycross YES it is 2 female Black Howlers

do you care to send me a pm and tell me off the record as the situation is very strange walking round a beautiful area just looking at bushes! On Friday I saw a maximum of 8 lemurs in there while at it's peak there were easily 25+ in the past.
 
Will be making my final visit (will be sad) 28th june before my perm move to Somerset so if any of you want any photographs please let me know
I will be taking as many photographs as possible of all the species and enclosures so if you would like me to upload any please let me know and I will upload them here.

I will also be making my final visits to both the Nature centre and Hagley Falconry Centre before I move (12th July) so if anyone wants photographs from these places just let me know

Will still be visiting this site to catch up with all the gossip in the future.
