Guess the species? #1

Maguari's ones:

1) North American porcupine
2) albino.....ostrich chick???
3) kagu
4) red-tailed black cockatoo

Maguari got it straight off the bat, it was a leopard seal :)

Hooray! And I've cunningly already posted the next round through a temporal feedback loop. Wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey.

lol, I hadn't opened the second one, just viewed it as the thumbnail, and I thought the ears were pink eyes!!

For Maguari's:

1) North American tree porcupine
2) Bush dog
3) Kagu
4) Speckled pigeon

That's my guesses anyway :D

Yes, I did wonder a little about that guess!

Still 50% correct (but much closer than Chli, who went a bit mad there!). :D

4 is by far the toughest one (maybe too tough?).

For Maguari's second one, Patas Monkey?

Are we still playing the rule that all four have to be correct in the same post? :D

Yes - it's a Patas Monkey (and not an albino ostrich chick!).

Three of the four have now been guessed correctly - game on for number 4!

you can just imagine me in Africa can't you....

expert tracker: "oh we're in luck! A troupe of patas monkeys in that tree there"
me (in my most disdainful tone): "I think you'll find that is actually a flock of albino ostrich chicks"

Still no correct guesses for the (admittedly quite obscure) number 4 - though JR and BeardsleyZooFan are the closest!

I think I might have it:

1) North American Porcupine
2) Patas Monkey
3) Kagu
4) Olive Pigeon (Columba arquatrix)

And we have a winner on number 4! :D

It is indeed C. arquatrix.

fantastic! I've never seen a live one and must admit I've never paid the species much attention, so it was nice to see how attractive the plumage actually is! I probably wouldn't have got it if it hadn't been for the other members' pigeon guesses though.

Anyway, here are some mystery feet for peoples' perusal (but then I'm off to bed so any suggestions as to identities will be left hanging till tomorrow my time):
