Did they pay you? I know a few people who have got proper reproduction fees after that happened.

I think that was disgraceful. Newspapers zealously guard everything they publish but think it is perfectly acceptable to steal someone else's work. The
usual double standards of the press I suppose.

The Indian Rhino calf has gone on full show (in the main paddock) for the first time this morning. Keepers have named her.... Komala!

Considering the fact that most Asiatic Lions born in Europe these days have the same defect to a greater or lesser extent, along with strabisbus, I would guess it was genetic, possibly aggravated by injury in Tejas' case. I seem to recall the same defect, albeit more severe, is the reason Chakra, the subsequent cub at Chester, was euthanised.

As such, if they refused to place any animals displaying such symptoms in a breeding situation they wouldn't be breeding any Asiatic lions at all!

Indeed... Even most of the original 9 imports were related in some way or another.

He didn't it was posted a few weeks ago and removed by the admin as the zoo hadn't 'announced it officially'
They havn't announced a few recently though

Er....what does that have to do with my surprise Tejas managed to father offspring?

Which deaths haven't they announced publicly? They announced Clio didn't they?

Asha & Komala on show in the main Asian Plains paddock from 10 a.m. to 2.40 p.m. today (28th). They also had access to the house, but showed well first thing and took shorter outings quite frequently. Komala is a sturdy little thing and eating a little grass - she takes about two stalks at a time and chews them with great concentration for about two minutes :)
After that time Beni was out in the paddock, but Asha and Komala were visible from time to time in the yard behind the house.
Photos to follow.

Typical! Been dying to see her the whole five weeks - now that I've left she goes on show :(. Only caught brief glimpses when her and mum ventured out of the house :( Glad they've finally let them out in show :)
