I officially am deleting 2 birds form my year list, the Mexican Chickadee and the Juniper Titmouse. While I have a high level of confidence that there were the birds that I identified, my ID is not 100%. I officially retract them.

241 Bald Eagle - Haliaeetus leucocephalus
242 Baird's Sandpiper - Calidris bairdii

14) Ring-Billed Gull Larus delawarensis
15) Common Merganser Mergus merganser

And one mammal lifetick (yes, full lifetick) that may surprise some of you:

Mammals

A most probably last visit to Dierenpark Emmen yesterday yielded a mammal species that took quite some time to see this year....

9. House mouse

93. Rose-ringed parakeet
94. Greater canadian goose
95. European stonechat

Butterflies
4. Holly blue

Only 5,5 weeks left in the Netherlands and then I will move to another country for the coming years, which would give me quite an advantage in seeing nice species ;).

ooh, this sounds like the beginning of a make-TLD-jealous bonanza!! Will you be beating jbnbsn99 this year?

That will depend on how much time I have, next to working, to do some birding / some short holidays when in the field. But even without much time for holiday it should be possible to earn some lucky bastard awards ;).

96. European oystercatcher

@Maguari, sure you have not seen Microtus agrestis?

@Maguari, sure you have not seen Microtus agrestis?

Not according to my book! M. agrestis should have a distinctly bicoloured tail and this individual definitely did not.

@Maguari, according to the literature I have that is not a good identification feature. Only the length of the hairs over the ears, length of hindfeet and the presence/absence of a lobe in the ear are characteristics that give a 100% identification in the field (apart from differences in the teeth).

Well, that wasn't the only thing I checked (and it wouldn't be the first time the literature disagreed with itself!) but I'll double-check later.

On a different note, been to Martin Mere today and added:

113. Grey Partridge - Perdix perdix
114. Whooper Swan - Cygnus cygnus
