Did some birding yesterday and took my non-birding girlfriend with me on her first real birding trip. I had taken her out to look for a rare vagrant before and that didn't count since it only took 15 minutes.

ooh, this sounds like the beginning of a make-TLD-jealous bonanza!! Will you be beating jbnbsn99 this year?Only 5,5 weeks left in the Netherlands and then I will move to another country for the coming years, which would give me quite an advantage in seeing nice species.

Was able to do some birding today before work. I decided to go look for a nice vagrant that was found earlier in the week and thanks to other birders I was able to find it within five minutes of arriving.
192. Dusky-capped Flycatcher
193. Bullock's Oriole
@Maguari, sure you have not seen Microtus agrestis?
@Maguari, according to the literature I have that is not a good identification feature. Only the length of the hairs over the ears, length of hindfeet and the presence/absence of a lobe in the ear are characteristics that give a 100% identification in the field (apart from differences in the teeth).
I do visit zoo's pretty regular and also do a lot of bird watching in the UK, I would like to start a thread on bird watching around the UK and Europe with your sightings from zoos, in the wild & in your gardens.
I will be adding my sightings list on here later, I have a New blog up and running hope you enjoy feel free to leave comments on here or on the link provided-
