Red Squirrels kept In Zoos other than prevost i really can't think of any other captive species except for the Squirrels that are at Taronga.
I really want to see the Red Squirrel with tufted ears. I think it's cheaper for me to visit a US Zoo than European zoo to see one
Well, if Zootierliste is anything to go by, Red squirrels are way more common in European captivity than in American facilities.
British red squirrel - 19 facilities (All in the UK)
Central European red squirrel - 72 facilities (All in Europe)
Costa Rica variegated squirrel - 5 facilities (4 in Germany, 1 in the US)
Eastern grey squirrel - 12 facilities (5 in Europe, 7 in the US)
Eurasian red squirrel - 27 facilities (All in Europe)
Fox squirrel - 4 facilities (All in the US)
Japanese squirrel - 10 facilities (All in Europe)
Pyrenean red squirrel - 6 facilities (All in Europe)
Red squirrel - 62 facilities (60 in Europe, 2 in the US)
Red-flanked variegated squirrel - 8 facilities (All in Europe)
Siberian red squirrel - 7 facilities (All in Europe)
Of course, the US isn't nearly as up-to-date as Europe in ZTL, and most squirrels are held in very small facilities that aren't exactly worth a visit
