. I hope that the two herds will one day be merged (maybe after Ceyla Himali's death)
who has been separated? It has been a while since I checked notes but I believe all of the females are related.

They are officially separated due to Ceyla and Indi not getting along and often fighting when togetherIndi lives with her two daughters Chandra and Omysha. Ceyla Himali lives with her daughter Farha and her granddaughter Ruwani. They only have contact through fences.
Chandra, Omsyha, Farha and Ruwani are related. They all have genetics of Maxi, father of the first three females, and grandfather of Ruwani.
I think the two groups are separated officialy since the opening of the new elephant park.
Why are 5 years old bulls moving ? I thought EEP wanted to transfer young bulls only when they would have reached 8 years.

Very sad newsIn Dierenpark Amersfoort, the matriarch of the elephant herd, Khine War War, has died at the age of 39. She had been suffering from arthritis in her joints for a long time. Medical treatments, including painkillers, did not help enough to allow her to live a full life. It was therefore decided to put her to sleep.

Very sad news. She was still young. The elephant herd in Amersfoort has been having a lot of bad luck lately, so hopefully things will get better soon. ... I'm devasted, I just hope Omyhsa will survive... If she doesn't, it would be a tragedy. My thoughts are with the staff of the zoo, for who the situation is probably really difficult. I hope the treatment will be efficient enough to save Omysha, but as the zoo told, it's again a critical case.
