PEAK WP

Visit last August with an Animal experience for a great nephew. 1 Male 2 females. Individual stables and yard, leading to a large paddock with fairly big pool. I would say 50% bigger than the Chester accommodation. Can't post photos as they all include the little guy.
I have posted a couple of photos in gallery of the Peak WP animal experience with my great nephew!

Score update. Newquay currently have the lead with 12 votes. The rest of the votes appear to be spread out amongst lots of other collections. @zoogiraffe @MagpieGoose @Mattaki @amur leopard @bintarong @Sausagefingers who are you voting for as your votes could impact the results. @Rupert89 I assume you're voting for Dartmoor and @Elephantelephant I assume you're voting for South Lakes.

In general I don't think the standard of exhibits are particularly high and there are no extremely impressive enclosures despite the number of collections which hold them. I personally felt the Folly Farm enclosure would be a strong contender and am surprised to see it on zero votes (I have never visited, however and may be overrating the exhibit).

My vote is currently for Dartmoor.

To make it clear I’m voting for Dartmoor. However I also like the thick wooded enclosure at Flamingo land. I’d put that as second. Then Folly Farm. Folly’s enclosure looks better suited for common hippos (with obvious housing/fencing changes). Certainly better than the other hippo enclosures in the UK bar longleat.

Jimmy's Farm

Unfortunately, there are no photos of this enclosure in the gallery. It would be extremely useful if someone who has visited can describe the exhibit and give an evaluation on its quality.
Jimmy's Farm have one of the better tapir exhibits that I've seen, it's lushly planted, has a decent pool, and the tapirs can retreat from sight completely within the vegetation. The indoor house was a little basic though from memory. This was August last year so it may have been improved.

And I've just realised, that's my Dudley photo! :D

What is news to you? Have you quoted the wrong post, because I doubt it is news to you that Dartmoor and Newquay are smaller than Chester ;)

You’re right! What I mean was ‘why did south lakes get Coati’s banned in Europe?’ I can still see them on Zootierliste!

Banned doesn't mean the animals were all exported, it just means zoos aren't allowed to breed them anymore so when the current generation dies that'll be it. This is an extreme overreaction backed by the zoo anti movement in response to South Lake's poor bear/tapir/monkey/coati enclosure not being suited to holding the coatis inside and therefore they established themselves in the surrounding countryside for a time.

Just a pity that white-nosed are also on the invasive species list, in the UK as well as we went further than the rest of Europe. Amazing that one man's arrogance can have such an impact on the UK zoo scene, thankfully coati will be about in the UK for many years, just no more breeding them.

I may sound biased, but I think that Jimmy's Farm & Wildlife Park's enclosure is the best. Here's why...none of these pictured above replicates the rainforest at all, whereas ours has running water going through a series of interconnecting pools (not concreted), surrounded by lush vegetation and tons of natural browse. Our tapirs are very sociable, but if they wish to, they can just disappear within the enclosure, and are sometimes pretty hard to find, even for the keepers walking through it!
They also have access to a large grass paddock, which they share with the rhea, but it's the forest side which is really great.
Sure the house is simple (as mentioned above), but quite often simplicity just works best. ;)

Poll closed. Congratulations to Newquay on winning the vote for Best UK South American Tapir enclosure. This is the first win for the collection and the Wild Planet Trust as a whole. Dartmoor also performed well with its best performance so far. I'm unsure on the final numbers as there are a few members who voted for the other category who haven't clarified who they wanted to vote for. @zoogiraffe @bintarong who did you want to vote for?

Newquay: 38.9%
Longleat: 13.9%
Dartmoor: 13.9%
Marwell: 8.3%
Knowsley: 5.6%
Linton: 2.8%
Jimmy's Farm: 2.8%
Exmoor: 2.8%
Lake District WP: 2.8%
South Lakes: 2.8%

I would add if anyone wants to vote in any polls that have closed feel free to pm me and I will add your vote to the results. Several members have already done this leading to a change in a couple of polls.
