Thrigby Hall cuerrently has a large group of Spectacled Caiman which will be going to Cromer Zoo,the American Alligators will be staying at Thrigby Hall.Noahs Ark does have a juvenile pair of American Alligators arrived early this year.he False Gharial from Paignton Zoo went to a private collection of Crocs in the U.K,i believe at least one is still alive at the moment.

I believe it was a space issue when the old Reptile House was knocked down pity realy that use to be one of my favorite buildings in the zoo.

Beaver water world claims to be a rescue centre for abandoned reptiles, and certainly the RSPCA have rehomed some animals there in the past. But the reptile house is very cramped, only a step up from the conditions the reptiles would have had before the RSPCA had recieved them. They are really a glorified garden centre; reptiles and other pets are sold in the main building, supposedly to combat the trade in rare reptiles from the wild. There is also a small aviary for barn owls and a pen for Canadian Beavers, which tend to knaw at the wire fencing obsessively, a very bad exhibit. The rest of the site has 'pet' type animals in small aviaries.

That's frustrating about the gharials, they were amazing, I'm surprised Paignton gave them up.

The Beaver Word place sounds very much alike a place called The Animalarium in Borth. In being a called rescue center for abandened RSPCA animals. However the conditions there are terrible, the monkeys have tiny cages plus the visitirs are allowed to feed the animals. Worst zoo in the uk i'd say!!

Not sure how this has been missed but Chester is building a Butterfly House as a new exhibit for opening sometime next year. The Cheetahs will be from the North African sub-species,the pairs of Taritic Hornbills that are going to Avifauna have left Chester, but thank god they kept the pair that have laid eggs in the old St.Lucia Amazon aviary ,also the Timor Sparrows are nesting in the R of R.A.and finally they now have 3 baby Azares Agouti`s.

Honest answer not a clue the pair that are nesting in the I of D have stayed the pair by the Red b of P have gone as their aviary has been given to the female Red B of P to use as well as the back one she was in.Their is still a pair in the Tropical Realm but if they are the hybrid pair don`t know

Do you have an pictures ofthe New female BoP, the baby agoutis or the nesting hornbills? I'll only get to go when the frost fair is open! My mum likes ice skating!

Forgot to mention the female Indian Rhino is arriving mid November.Blue-tongue and Foot and Mouth permitting.

I'll be visiting during the half term, so i'll try and find out which of the hornbills have left for avifana.

Where is this Butterfly house going to be, im not a fan of bugs so i'd much prefer some new birds or mammals instead.

Not a clue the staff i was talking to about the Butterfly House only knew it was going to be on the side of the zoo as the Twilight Zone and that it was in the final design stage.

Where the hell could they put it, though i wondered about hat when they were building Bears of The Coud Forests and they managed to find space for that. Undveloped land maybe??

I was at Chester yesterday and the area at the side of the Bat House, between it and the little picnic area next to the Phillipine spotted deer had been cleared. I wondered why.
They are also building a new flamingo house (they had better hurry up if the weather continues to get colder) and I noticed an area by the canal near the lion paddock had been fenced off, but I didn't go near it.

I guess we have a good idea where the butterfly house and lemur developments are going then...

Sorry not at the moment but will do as soon as i get the all clear to tell you what the hoofstock is.The hippo maze that was along side the Bats has gone to make way for the Bridge to the other side of the zoo.The Lemur is on hold for the time been so forget that as a reason for any building work.

now u are teasing us zoogiraffe, do you work for the zoo, you seem to have the inside track on what is happening at chester. Appreciate the news though, thank you. I take it you know the species of hoofstock being mentioned.
