Sarikei must be Tuan's mate, because when i went last month, Tuan was still off-show and so was sarikei.

I imagine that they were being introduced away from martha and leia and the public eye which has allowed them to become close already...

I have a photo of the construction from my last visit, I will upload into the gallery...

I cant wait to see how they modify this enclosure for them, I remember when they last had cheetah's in what is now the pudu enclosure. That was my first time i had seen cheetah's and i have only ever seen them on one other time at south lakes. I really cant wait for them to arrive.

I've never seen them anywhere! The years they were at Chester in what are now the cassowary and pudu enclosures, I could never see them!

And when I went to Whipsnade, they were off-show for the day... but now I'll see them at West Midlands and Chester! :)

Have they opened up the spoted dear enclsure aswell? As it looks like they have taken the fence down, to create a larger exhibit. If so will they use the old dear house as it will prob be more suited for cheetah's?

As far as i know the P.S.Deer are staying where they are at the back of the Cheetahs so at present the zoo will have 3 locations with them.

Thanks for that, I suppose they will have to place some sort of sreening up so the P.S.Deer wont be able to see them.

Zoo giraffe do you know which group P.S.Deer has been the most succesfull with births?

The ones that have been offshow are i believe the most succesful, they are certainly the only ones to have produced female young as the ones at the back of the Asian Plains have only had Male young. At one point their were 7 animals in the offshow exhibit 4 of them young animals.

How many Philippine Spotte Deer are there in each enclsoure.

Near the ostriches - 2.0
off-show - ??
Behind the Asian Plains - ??

Just had the lastest e-mail from zoo digest group and tucked away in the job vacancies section is an advert for a keeper/senior keeper for small mammals.
The job is for someone to oversee small mammal expertise in the collection, and overseeing a new small mammal breeding centre.
With experience with small rodents and insectivores.
So what, where, when for this new breeding centre anyone?

Kiang, that is the breeding centre behind Spirit of the Jaguar.

The job listing is also on BIAZA website, they are also searching for an elephant keeper...

What species do they keep in this breeding centre, is it on show?
Do you know what species they will be moving in?

African hedgehogs were mentioned about 3 years ago, and there's also talk of new squirrel species coming to Chester. Other than that it seems mainly to be tropical mice that are kept in there at the moment.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, our giraffe house is currently closed. We apologise for any inconvenience and hope to reopen the house shortly

Just saw this on the chester zoo website! I hope its a building circumstances, and not a problem with one of the giraffe's (with two being pregnant).

Can anyon else shed any more light on this?
And anyone know when the pregnant giraffe's are due?
