A few days before the end of the year, a fifth bonobo baby was born in Vallée des Singes. It is a female, just like the fourth baby born just before Christmas.

Margrit, the world’s oldest bonobo, has died at Frankfurt at the age of 72
Horrible news
She was an amazing animal.
Sorry to hear this news.
A lady with character!
Can anyone post tell about holding Margrit and members in the early days, years 50 and beginning 60? Where they trained to eat at a table and things like that? Maybe some photos.
She died on 9 December 2010 due to a severe cold.Does anyone know what happened to 0:1 Jasiri (Mwindu x Lomela) at Planckendael?
First time hearing about chimp X bonobo hybrids. Any more information on these and how prevalent they have been?Wilhelma Stuttgart received a new male called KONGO.
Maybe it is CONGO II, born 1979 from the Rech circus in France, who sired hybrids with chimpanzee females there.

I guess that he will stay in Stuttgart now. This is a very good move for a Bonobo with a very unusual past for the species. With no (pure) descendants his genetic value is high for the European population too. What will be his future?
