Brandywine Zoo Brandywine Zoo news

Was at the zoo this morning when they opened. The guineafowl are back in the Madagascar exhibit and everyone seems to be getting along with each other. I even saw the lemurs and tortoises nicely sharing some food.

Bit of an odd update as well: there were three white egrets in the aviary with the bald eagles and ravens. All seemed to be getting along, but the egrets were perched on the branches while the eagles were sitting on the ground avoiding them. Maybe they’re planned to eventually be in the wetlands exhibit? They were unsigned.

Ooooh do you know what species they were? Great? Cattle? You're probably right about them being in the new wetlands exhibit. I think that's a cool addition!

The zoo has started a capital campaign, Our Zoo Re-imagined, to fund the new entryway and wetlands exhibit. DNREC (Delaware Department of Natural Resources & Environmental Control) paid for the first two phases, this is phase 3.

...this has been going on for a long while.

They got 0.4 more White-faced Whistling Ducks according to an Instagram post. There are also two other ducks in the video, which appear to be Chilean Pintails.

Oh, from the Instagram post it seemed like they just got a male and had introduced him to the four existing females?
