All they said was that they are "at the beginning stages of developing a new Master Site Plan for the future" which is like saying "I am thinking about typing something in this box" and "Along with Tropic World and discussions about outdoor habitats, there are many older buildings that will be considered for renovation" which just means "many areas will be considered for renovation".

Neither part of the comment is actually stating anything.

Actually the news of a new master plan means That we could soon be getting a big anouncment regarding new exhibits. Infact I belive a komodo exhibit is part of this master plan. it shows they have started on a new one and that was 4 months ago, so they might be some what far into this. it is a small thing but It could mean something huge

If this means info a keeper told me komodo dragons are being looked for by the zoo and there is a planned pangolin exhibit. also once the tortoises get really big the outdoor formal pool yard will get bigger and lastly something completely new could go by babbon island that is not primates.
 
News of outdoor exhibits at Tropic World is welcome and would be a fantastic addition to the zoo, both for conservation purposes and for even the less wildlife-conscious zoo visitors. I am curious what species, besides obviously gorillas and orangutans, can/will benefit. It might be nice to see other primate species outside, or even the Giant Anteaters.

I have mentioned before that several years ago a zoo worker had told me they had Bonobos in an off-exhibit part of Tropic World. I wonder if this species may make a return, depending on how extensive renovations are.

I wonder where the zoo would keep Komodo dragons?

I highly doght bonobos are at the zoo, if they where they where they would at least rotate them with the other primates. The komodos might go in one of the reptile and bird buildings

It's an odd story, and I'm not sure I'd believe if it I had been told today, but that was how it was given to me at the time, around seven years ago - I remember Great Bear Wilderness had just been announced.

I'm not sure where they could place them within the existing structures. They would need more space than most of former Perching Bird House provides, and Feathers and Scales was just renovated.

He is the oldest male polar bear in US captivity. However, he's only in the top 5 for oldest polar bear for the country. There are a few females older than him.
 
Some updates:

Twin binturongs were born last week. This makes 7 binturong births at Brookfield Zoo since last year.

A black curtain has been placed in underwater viewing at Great Bear Wilderness. This prevents the bears from seeing each other from opposite pools. It is for a baseline animal welfare study, according to the zoo.

Four Home's hingeback tortoises have recently arrived at the zoo. They were confiscated in California by US Fish & Wildlife.

Some new additions to the zoo's animal ambassador program: an African grey parrot, a cockatiel, and two screech owls.

The outdoor tortoise exhibit by the formal pool is back, this time on southeast corner, next to the Conservation Leadership Center building.

New signage and fencing will be added to the path leading to the Tropic World building next week.

A new callimico monkey pair will be on exhibit soon.

A red-tailed guenon was born on August 29th.

And the zoo will be getting a new sloth this fall: Raisin, a young female from Zoo Atlanta. They may be getting a male for breeding as well.
