Whooping crane are still listed in between the moose and North American porcupine near the top of Wild Canada.

Good catch! There are still Whooping Cranes at the zoo, although in a brand-new exhibit in a different location within the Wild Canada area. That's what threw me off. ;) Calgary Zoo has also built another brand-new Whooping Crane exhibit at their off-site Archibald Biodiversity Centre and has truly committed to the conservation of the species.

Does anyone know the current bird collection in the african aviary

Calgary Zoo's all-time record breaking year in terms of attendance was 2018, with 1.48 million visitors checking out the Giant Pandas and other animals. Well, in 2023 the zoo has now exceeded that total, hitting the 1.5 million mark just before the New Year. Certainly the December addition of Polar Bears helped bolster the total!
