Not as exciting as the new arrivals, but 3 male Vicuna have left the collection and gone to Trotters World of Animals in the Lake District.
Leaving just 0.3 now? Hope they aren't going out of them, I have something of a soft spot for them!

Maybe plans are in place for a new male? The males that have left are they the ones that were born in 2011? It would be obvious to move them on.
From Chester's Facebook...
BREAKING NEWS: We are absolutely delighted to announce that Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh will officially open our NEW Diamond Jubilee Quarter on Thursday 17th May![]()
Now that is very cool news, but what is the Diamond jubilee quarter?
I'm no particular royalist, but it does rather warm the cockles to see Chester's perennial favourite 'non-zoo' word 'Jubilee' making another appearance.
(see also Jubilee the elephant, Jubilee cafeteria, Jubilee Square, Jubilee Square Station, etc)
I've said 'Jubilee' too many times. It's gone weird...
It could be the "Last Chance To See" our dear monarch
There's nothing "last minute" about this visit, it's been in the works for months. Why do you think the huge gates at the new entrance have "1952" on them? The date is irrelevant to the history of the zoo.

Mark Carwardine was reluctant to take part![]()
I can understand that as you'll get to be there, I remember the excitement when Prince Andrew opened Monkey Islands.I'm really looking forward to it personally...

At least the last time the Duke visited members and supporters had a chance of seeing him, this time we'll probably get no nearer than Chester city centre.
Unfortunately times (and management) change, and the more I hear about this visit the more the whole thing concerns me, not least in terms of the huge amount of money it's costing.
